I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

I'm not saying that there won't be more people who'll push for this, but the average American doesn't like terrorists and the idea of lighter sentences is galling to them.

Most people in Britain don't like terrorists, either. Most people in Britain aren't Muslims or leftists, but the media, police, justice system and political system are so what does it matter?

Sorry to be a downer, but it's a pretty grim reality that this is all going to end with western civilisation either collapsing or turning on itself and either way we're going to see a lot of violence in our lifetimes.

No. I fully expect leftists will continue to ignore and hide the problem as it gets worse. However, I also expect to see plenty of these subhuman mouth breathers to eat bullets.

We're already seeing signs of it. That church shooting in Texas last year ended when an armed citizen ventilated the shooter, and that's just one example. He saved lives, and the whole country saw it. It's part of what killed what little momentum the usual gun grabbers had after the Parkland shooting last year. Hell, South Dakota's new governor just made it legal to conceal-carry a loaded firearm without a permit.

I think you're being too pessimistic about how this country responds to terrorist acts. Remember the "shoe bomber?" The guy who wore shoes concealing makeshift explosives onto a domestic flight? When his fellow passengers figured out what he was trying to do, they didn't cower in their seats and wait for their own demise like the docile cows of the UK. They beat the shit out of him, stopped him, restrained him and handed him straight to the authorities when they landed. We learned after 9/11 that cooperating with terrorists during an attack in the hopes they'll let us live is pointless because they'll kill us anyway. So if it happens, we know we might as well take the bastards with us.

The first muzzie that bombs a school, kills dozens of kids, survives, has his day in court and somehow walks free thanks to some lenient liberal judge is a dead man walking no matter which leftist stronghold it happens in. The judge will jump at his own shadow for awhile, too. And if something like that were to happen somewhere like Texas, he'd never even see the inside of a courtroom. Vigilante justice does still happen here on occasion, civilization be damned.
 
On the one hand I understand what's trying to say, that sometimes the right thing to do isn't to crack down on a group because that only reinforces their beliefs. I get that, but the problem is that if you let Islamic extremists off easy they don't suddenly think better of you, they'll probably think you're a weakling and they all the more right to destroy you. You have to understand what motivates your opponent before you can undermine them. So I think she's wrong, but doesn't have an entirely awful idea.
What actually annoys me about this is the fact that she would never, ever offer this same consideration to terrorists who were fighting against her ideology. Its all well and good to come to the aid of people who are part of your own group, but quite another to offer it to everyone. If Ilham Omar ever calls for compassion and forgiveness in the sentencing of a white nationalist, I'll start believing she actually believes that compassion is the way to defeat terrorism.

I think you've been watching too much of the mainstream media. I'm not meaning to be condescending, I say that to remind you it's their job to spin things like this as what the country wants when we know it's not true in the slightest. You get inundated with constant chatter about how the country is racist and that the screaming hordes of danger-hairs and soyboys are the real American people and that anybody that isn't marching in lockstep with them is a mini-Hitler. Yes, this shit is troubling and certainly a sign that we shouldn't let our guard down, but the majority of Americans don't like this shit and are more than willing to tell the cunts supporting this to go fuck themselves.

I'd love to see this bitch arrested and expelled from Congress for providing material support to terrorism. If you looked into it, I guarantee there is some compromising shit (even if it isn't terrorist related) on this woman that would land her in prison.

If they don't want to assimilate and instead want to act like the more animalistic and criminal of their number like in Europe, they will find their way to prison. America has free speech and we've all seen what's happened in Europe. They could never perpetuate such an outrage on American society, as much as Twitter and the rest of Big Tech is trying. They know that American Civil War 2 would happen if they tried, and that's a war they would lose since they have maybe a couple of cops, Antifa, and at best 10% of the military.

I don't believe the elite would let their own civilization collapse because they couldn't milk it for money anymore and would need a new host to feed on. They know they run a very high risk of being lined up against the wall since without financial power they are nothing, and civilizational collapse has a tendency to completely wreck your financial power.

What happened to 'freedom of association'? The men she's defending didn't shoot anyone or plant any bombs, they just wanted to join a club. In a free society they shouldn't even be charged with a crime.
