I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

It is simply because brown people are automatically oppressed, they can never be an oppressor. Clearly all the problems of the middle east can be laid bare at Europe and America as none of the problems were at all due to the lack of a true reformation in the religion of peace.

I don't think Islam CAN have a Reformation. The christian reformation didn't actually change any of the fundamentals of Christian doctrine. It simply curtailed the power of the Catholic Church and put the secular authorities firmly in charge. They could only get away with that though because Christianity has always made a sharp distinction between the celestial kingdom of God, and the worldly kingdoms of the secular authorities. Islam makes no such distinction. Quite the opposite in fact.

The lobbyist is immunized against all dangers. One may call him a scoundrel, parasite, swindler, profiteer, and it all runs off of him like water on a raincoat. But call him a lobbyist, and you will be astonished at how he recoils, how injured he is, how he suddenly shrinks back: "I've been found out!"

the quran is the literal and direct word of god, there can be no doubt or question. it (along with the teachings of muhammad according to the hadith and early islamic tradition) is set in stone forever, and any attempt to deviate from it or change anything about it is heresy (bid'ah)
That would explain the killing of reformers. Also why people under Islam only act sane when there is a bigger stick than religious authorities. One with with different goals that could thwack them if they step out of line (i.e. a secular government with more balls than Sweden or the U.K)

Found another article talking about this.

Apparently, the most anti semitic thing she did was retweet some Jew who said "She might as well have called us hook nosed."

She’s kinda dumb but the fact that people shit themselves over even the most milquetoast criticism of Israel are even dumber. As are the people flipping the fuck out over having a whole two Muslim representatives.

I'm surprised she's not more popular with KiwiFarms. If she wasn't a member of the Religion of Peace, she'd be made an honorary member imo.

Freshman Rep. Max Rose (D-N.Y.) said Sunday that his colleague Rep. Ilhan Omar's tweet suggesting that a pro-Israel lobbying group was buying off lawmakers was "deeply hurtful to Jews," including himself.
And now it's officially only a matter of time until the Jews in Congress go ham on all the new Congresswomen, including AOC, Tlaib, and Omar.

She’s kinda dumb but the fact that people shit themselves over even the most milquetoast criticism of Israel are even dumber.
Dude, if it weren't for the fact that she's a Somalian Muslim woman, she'd be straight slaughtered already for the things she said about Israel.

Her "criticisms" don't even stand on their own merits regardless. Many Americans support Israel for reasons that have nothing to do with money, such as Israel's importance to Christian eschatology, trade of goods and weapons between Israel and the US, or acting as a buffer between all the Arab Muslim states.

As are the people flipping the fuck out over having a whole two Muslim representatives.
Nobody is freaking out over Tlaib and Omar being Muslim. They are criticizing them for being the political equivalent of diversity hires with no business deciding policy, as seen in their support of, say, the Green New Deal or the abolition of ICE.

I feel torn on this tbh
On one hand I really don’t like that lady
On the other hand I don’t think duel-citizens should be in Congress, so I have a hard time wanting to defend the people saying they feel attacked by her words.

The smartest thing to do here is probably not pick a side and enjoy the shitshow

Yaaaay, now we get UK-style left-wing antisemitism as islamists begin to slowly infect the Democrat party.

So glad the federal government decided to import Somalians into Minnesota and Michigan.
Actually it is much worse than that, since there are far more Jews in the USA, making a slightly bigger proportion of the total population and a very large proportion of world Jewry, only smaller than the state of Israel. Moreover, they are concentrated within the Democratic Party, along with these Muslim voters who hate them.

So fun times are a comin'.

And yet the Jews will keep pulling that Dem lever like lemmings while anti-semitism becomes ever more the official doctrine of the DNC.

I think a lot of people are siding with Ilhan

As much as I dislike this bitch, I dislike the idea that talking shit about George Soros and AIPAC is somehow anti semitic even more.

As far as I'm concerned, Ilhan Omar and everyone defending AIPAC can fuck a ham sandwich.

Nah I'm pretty sure she just straight-up doesn't like Jews. She might keep it fairly bottled up when the cameras are on, but there's a few too many coincidences swirling around to make me believe that when the doors close she doesn't go full-bore into an A. Wyatt Mann-esque rant against the Shekel-folk.

Pelosi told her to shut it. And Chelsea Clinton has come down from on high to hear her holy confession...

That nitwit Nadler of course had to somehow turn this into Republicans are bigots!

But Nadler said he was also concerned about "concerted right-wing tactics aimed at advancing their agenda by distracting and dividing those committed to equality and social justice. These tactics have painted some unfairly and we must guard against this as well."

A synagogue was attacked and several Jews were murdered last year. These kinds of words and beliefs (Jews control everything and Jew money is behind American politics) continue perpetuating harmful stereotypes that feed into anti-semtism and deranged conspiracy theorists who then attack jews.

Pelosi needs to reign in both of these clowns but I don’t think she’ll be able too. They’re unapologetically Muslim and hate Israel and Jews.
