I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Israel has to be one of the most pathetic "allies" the United States has ever had. Try answering the following four questions

1) How many infantry battalions, air squadrons, naval vessels, etc. has Israel sent to fight along side our military overseas,
2) How many bases has Israel leased to us to use,
3) How much money has Israel lent to us, and
4) Which of our other allies have done none of the above for us?

Even France, of all countries, has fulfilled the first criteria listed above and yet France and our other NATO allies have been pressured to contribute more to NATO so as to alleviate our expenditures. Meanwhile Israel gets another couple hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign aid. It is beyond obscene. I'm not sure Germany's alliance with Austro-Hungary or Italy in WW1 and then WW2 was more foolish than our "alliance" to Israel.
In addition to all of that, Israel is possibly the only one of our "allies" that has sunk one of our own ships.

I'm not going to say Jews are all of he problems in the world, not by a long shot. But it's really tiresome when (((every time))) you look into something there's a certain (((trend))) to the names and parties involved. You have your own country, stop meddling in everyone else's.
The only problem with this train of thought is that all these other groups can do these sorts of things a million times a day and nobody cares, but as soon as it's a (((Demographic))) that falls in-line with a stereotype, everyone gets a hair across their asses. You could line up a thousand people for embezzling money through a bank and no one would give an arse until the name Shekelbergstein popped up and then it's suddenly "Oh of course the JEWS would do this!" or you could watch dozens of people pile in to KFC but the second the black people show up it's suddenly a big deal.

I swear it's like some kind of blue car syndrome.

Yeah, there's a word for that phenomenon. Where when one specific group does something it makes you extra mad...

I can't remember what it's called, but it's something those people would do...

Complete falsehood.

Jesus never called the Jews the synagogue of Satan anywhere in the Bible. It would be especially ridiculous for him to do so, given that he was a Jew himself, both ethnically and religiously.
Hmm, looking into this further I found the two verses that use the phrase. I thought this phrase was in the apostles as a direct quote, but apparently they're in Revelations:

To the Church in Smyrna
8 “To the angel of the church in Smyrna write:These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again.
9 I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
11 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.

To the Church in Philadelphia
7 “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.

The context makes clear that Jesus is saying this, albeit through John the writer. It seems pretty clear that those who falsely claim to be Jews are the synagogue of Satan, and specifically the ones that were persecuting the church at the time. I don't think it's a stretch to say that Jews that use their supposed jewishness to fleece evangelicals and entire counties while often undermining them and denying the Messiah status of Christ could be considered to be a synagogue of satan by this definition. However, I am by no means a religious scholar, so rebut this if you feel I am incorrect.

Unironically, France could be considered our greatest ally for it's support of the fledgling US during the revolutionary war. We should also drop britanistan and align ourselves with shitpost capital of the world Australia imo.

That's fair, but I wouldn't describe myself as a /pol/ fanatic looking for Jews everywhere. But when I consistently see the same type of names come up it's hard to draw other conclusions. Most infuriating are the "x for me, but not for thee" situations, like walls, nationalism, diversity, etc. If Jews all moved to Israel to run it how they saw fit I'd be totally fine with that. That's really my take on nationalism: you have your own country, I have mine, run it how you see fit but don't meddle in mine. I think it's hard to deny that the meddling in the US is constant and usually against the will of the American people.

France used to allow US bases until we cucked them in 1953 on Suez; Coincidentally that was the only time in history we went against Israel as we fucked them, the French and the UK over while trying to court the Arabs, to which we got cucked by the Soviet Union because eventhough we were the ones to actually force them to withdraw from Egypt, the Soviet Union got all the credit in the Arab world because they openly threatened to hit London and Paris with ICBMs over the Suez eventhough it was a complete bluff as they had no deployable ballastic missles at the time.

also, muslims take extreme pride in the fact that their religion is unchanged since the beginning.
according to islamic doctrine, judaism was originally the true and honest monotheist religion, but over time the jews changed and altered the scripture and corrupted the religion in the process.
then god sent jesus as a prophet to restore judaism to its true and honest roots, but the jews rejected him, and his followers changed and corrupted jesus' teachings by worshipping him as the son of god.
then finally god sent muhammad as the final prophet to set things straight once and for all, so he wrote the quran. the quran is the literal and direct word of god, there can be no doubt or question. it (along with the teachings of muhammad according to the hadith and early islamic tradition) is set in stone forever, and any attempt to deviate from it or change anything about it is heresy (bid'ah)
Imams talk a huge game about all of that nonsense, and yet Salafism is different from Wahabism is different from Suuni in the ME is different from Shia' in the ME is different from Sunni and Shia' in the US. The Islam practiced by the Persians was different than the Islam practiced by the Ottoman Empire was different from pre-revolution Iranian Islam. Supposedly, every form of Christianity is the "true, pure, uncorrupted path" descended from divine commandments as well.

Don't forget that France left us hanging during the Vietnam War. They called us over to help and then they left saying, "You're now here. Here's the bag, bye."

I was wondering what the Pokéfags were blabbing about. Sooooo guess this counts as salt?

What we gain is a base where we can bomb the shit out of Arabs that step out of line at least according to us. I would rather have shitweasel Israel rather than Palestine as why do we need another Mudrat country that will hate us rather than an ally that we can pussywhip if they step out of line?
We've been bombing the shit out of the middle east for over 20 years and never once have we ever needed or used Israel as a 'base'
Also if you think US actions in the ME serve any purpose other than benefiting israeli interests, then your dellusional

Sure but when a disproportionate amount of people seem to have double standards and do things people like me deem harmful to society or one group that makes up say 13% of the population commits over 50% of murders and 30% of rapes, it's hard not to notice.

I love how criticizing AIPAC is no longer antisemitic among the woke because a Somalian Muslim woman did so.
The "woke" crowd (and the radical left in general) has been pretty openly anti-Semitic for quite awhile now. It's like built-in planned obsolescence for a political movement. They'll push this shit too hard too fast and before you know it these people will be ones the media keeps calling racists instead of the current scapegoat (dang dirty conservatives). Stereotypes aside, Jews really do control a very large portion of the mainstream media in the US. Go on and keep pissing off that demographic, woke lefties. That'll be fun to watch.

Interesting hot take on Ms. Omar:
Speaking of stupid. Last week I was having beers with a member of the “mainstream media” who was coming through Austin. We were talking all things D.C., and I mentioned offhand that a key aspect of Ilhan Omar that is not spoken of enough is that she’s likely not very smart in comparison to the average member of Congress. She graduated from North Dakota State University with bachelor’s degrees in political science and international studies in 2011. Her B.A. likely indicates an ability to parrot platitudes. Not the ability to think analytically, or, to engage in verbal parsing so as to be subtle enough to maintain deniability. Her attempt to lift the ban on trans powerlifters is probably sincere.
I would definitely agree. No doubt she is benefited from affirmative action programs (which is of course why this "unspoken"). Still, I think anybody who gone to a university for some time would recognize the type. Enrolled in an Arts or social sciences program, often female, probably gets good grades and works hard, but only capable of repeating the information given to within the program and not thinking beyond. Really, they are probably as intellectually incurious as the typical person without a degree, despite what universities and college say they instill "critical thinking" in their students.

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? People with college degrees have better critical thinking skills? I mean, sure, they say that while they force you to repeat the correct opinion, but nobody outside their PR departments believes that nonsense do they?

That line about "all about the Benjamins" seemed to be a fairly clever play on money and Netanyahu.
