I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

I really need to figure out an eloquent way of saying how dishonest this is while not looking like an /r9k/ misogynist

It’s a nice sentiment and all, but it doesn’t really matter if they’re women or not. Their policies suck, especially AOC’s ideas in particular. Also, if you have to say that “women shaping the future” or other variations like “the future is female” ad nauseum, you aren’t as powerful as you think you are. Powerful people don’t have to go around convincing everyone else of their ability.

Her puppet master got busted stuffing the dark money cookie jar.

AOC’s chief of staff ran $1M slush fund by diverting campaign cash to his own companies

Even the people closest to her see her for what she is. She's the dumpster fire that burs twice as brightly but only half as long. The people around her know if they're going to make any money off her, they better do it quick.

The progressives in the Democrat party are useful idiots for the establishment, they're only useful inasmuch as they draw attention away from the hands pulling the strings. Pelosi is still a cunt even if she is "denouncing" AOC.

Eventually the DNC is going to lose control of the progressives, and we can see this already.

Also, fuck IdPol.

Democrat woman bad.

Also we must take the mention of cow farts out of context and think she wants to stop them when she literally said they were unavoidable and it was us that was the problem.

Democrat woman bad.
You know that unmentioned rule of not coming into threads that make fun of things you like? I think it applies here.

I love how many knots and twists they keep tying themselves into to avoid saying "This person probably dislikes Jews." when if this was a Conservative, they'd have been called Hitler 50 times before they even walked into the room.
I'm torn on this. On one hand, I dislike the idea that criticizing AIPAC is a form of anti semitism. On the other hand, I'm having too much fun imagining AIPAC telling the DNC to tard wrangle her and they're struggling to find a way to do it without pissing off Muslims.

A part worth highlighting:
A few weeks after starting the Brand New Congress PAC, Chakrabarti formed one of the companies, Brand New Campaign LLC, in Delaware, using a registered agent service and mailbox-only address.

Over the next seven months, as small-dollar political donations poured into the PAC from progressives across the country, the committee transferred over $200,000, 82 percent of the contributions, to the company Brand New Campaign LLC. The payments were for "strategic consulting," according to federal election filings. They were sent to an apartment address listed for Chakrabarti in the Greenwich Village area of Manhattan.

The company that got the money was established immediately, so whatever it is that is going it was obviously planned from the start.

Pelosi and the Dems will pass a motion in the house condemning Omar's "antisemitism" expect AOC to throw Ilhan Omar under the bus.

Lol

"'Our democracy is built on debate, Congresswoman!' Omar wrote, later adding, 'I have not mischaracterized our relationship with Israel, I have questioned it and that has been clear from my end.'"

Hilarious considering how many Dems and libs have been trying to obliterate democracy, debate, and dissenting opinions since November 8, 2016.

I hope an open and unabashed hatred of Israel thwarts all of the sharia law gremlins in Congress. I want this shit to expose and sully anyone who lets their "religion of peace" mask fall off, just like it did for Sarsour and the Women's March. It's critical.

And AOC claimed to be "Jewish" for cred (lol) but supports this person. The idiocy doesn't stop.

How willing do you think she'd be to "debate" the fact that her home district in Minnesota is the Somalian jihadist terrorist recruitment capital of the US?

On one hand, there are serious problems with the relationship the US and Congress has with Israel, on the other hand Muslims are pieces of shit and aren't compatible with modern society.
