I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Considering who this thread is about I wouldn't be surprised if AOC thinks that the House is solely responsible for Impeachment.
Then again a lot of people forget about the Senate in their Impeachment fantasies.

It won't even get through the house. "He ALMOST obstructed justice" not only isn't a crime but isn't something any of the lifers on either side of the aisle want to risk their seats over.

IMHO, believe more and more people are getting sick and tired of this entire bullshit ploy by the Dems. Now I hear the Mueller report will say Trump isn't doing what he's supposed to do as President. Well, what the fuck. Could it be that the Dems' harassment has taken time away from doing productive work for the country? Is President Trump supposed to do everything in government by himself? Who is anyone to say what a President is or is not supposed to be doing? Job's 24/7/365. The President has to be able to handle anything at any time, something nobody in Congress has to do. Believe he's done a lot. Not everything a President does can be made public.

One big thing Trump has done is to ratchet down the tension with North Korea and at least start working with them toward lowering the tension in Northeast Asia. This is very significant, more than many think.

He's got two SCOTUS justices in, as well as scores of other Federal judges. He's called China on their trade bullshit. He's told the deadbeats in NATO to pony up. He's sent anti-tank weapons to Ukraine.

It isn't the Dems, anyone in Congress, or the shitheads in the mainstream media who decides if President Trump is doing his job - it's the American people. And from what I see people believe he's doing a good job overall.

I just want him to start investigating these fucks who brought forth all this harassment. Clapper's a nice start. Let's see that confirmed liar do the perp walk. Fuck Clapper.

Question: do you think anyone has read the Mueller Report to her in a fashion that she can understand it? e.g., small enough to fit on the back of a cereal box or a single mobile browser sized web page (or perhaps even a 10-posts-or-shorter Twitter thread)?

I mean that honestly. Does anyone think that, or do you think she's just following along with the Orange man Bad! shuck and jive.

I’m guessing her Justice Democrat handlers give her talking points and she brays accordingly.

I find it so heartwarming that someone thinks that whether or not a crime has actually occurred matters in the slightest to most of the swamp.

If they thought they could get him on it I'm sure they wouldn't give a shit, but they know they can't. It's not a question of morals since as I've repeatedly said no one in the DNC has any, it's just a question of feasibility.

Don't you just love it when companies pretend to be woke in order to sell products to people that pretend to hate capitalism

Capitalism is gonna kill us, have you tried our new vegan ice cream?

Ironically enough if Ben and Jerry's used their profits to do charity work and conservation efforts capitalism would be saving the Earth.

Not to mention that capitalism is saving the Earth by making labor saving devices and the means to clean things up. Before washing machines we had to use rivers and bodies of water. Look at the Ganges and compare it to literally any body of water in North America. Look at India and their designated shitting streets and compare it to any city not run by the Left. Hell, even compare New York before and after the invention of the car and how horse shit was everywhere.

Ben and Jerry's is absolute scum as a company, as are the founders. Look them up on Counterpunch articles sometimes for some firsthand accounts.

Did you know, for example, that they are not actually organic, but willfully market as if they are?

They couldn't even put the solar panels in an ideal setting. Look at all that shade.
Can't show that solar panels require deserts. They aren't green.

Anyone stupid enough to want organic food deserves to be scammed. Good on Ben and Jerry.

Considering that most of the women who hate capitalism are obese land whales, it makes sense that a company selling sugary dairy products would pander to them.

Just, you know, pretend that the cows who made the milk in your ice cream don't have anuses that expel methane gas.

Wow dumbfucks, you are behind the times. The creator of the green new deal didn't even vote for it. That's right, this stupid fucking ice cream company is going to bat for a policy so bad it got 0 votes.

This is your brain on TDS...

They spun that, remember?

Somehow it was evil to make them vote on it when they did not have the votes, because it was somehow beta legislation or something.
Not only did they spin that, I know at least one person for whom that spin worked. They're so mad the republicans acted so disrespectfully toward a WoC when she was just trying to make the world a better place with her big ideas.

I have agreed to not talk to that person about politics anymore. Our relationship has improved. It's easy to forget that's an option sometimes.

Someone who can't respect that isn't a very good friend, honestly.

It's hard to imagine this, but Dem propaganda, disseminated as it is by sympathizers in the mass media, actually works on many otherwise-intelligent people.

They used to do that, 7.5% percent of pre-tax income according to Wikipedia. But Ben & Jerry's have been a multinational brand belonging to a huge corporation for close to 20 years now.

Who owns them? Unilever of course, many people are familiar with their Heartbrand that they put on most ice cream companies that they take over all over the world.

Why would they keep the name of a traditional manufacturer and their products but change their logos?

pizzagate is real and the ice cream is a front used to lure children, the old 'candy in a van' trick.

Not really, but when those symbols showed up via Wikileaks it made me scratch my head for a while, that triangle thing from pizzagate was also one the symbols.
