I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...irect=on&noredirect=on&utm_term=.960552c9ba53

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Goodness, the AOC comic and this comic are like night and day. It's amazing that somebody working for free is able to draw something that's so much more dynamic and entertaining than a group of paid professionals trying to raise money for charity. Money really is no substitute for passion!
I feel second hand embarrassment for her. This is legitimately atrocious. Sometimes the worst stuff comes from people with good intentions. :story:

Don't sully Mother 3, you degenerates.

Zero fucks given is also basically the opposite of what a liberal socialist would be doing. These people actually do care, even if it expresses itself in absurd ways.

Makes me wonder how familiar the author actually is with the ideology or even AOC herself lol

One could argue even, that the degree to which they care is matched by the absurdity in which it shows itself, because the expressions are fueled by the amount of fucks they give.

No, they like, don't even give a fuck about trump. That's why they bitch about him 24/7, it's due to how little they care.

This seems like a huge overreaction. Tlaib just used some poor words. Seems like she basically meant to say that it's a sobering, sort of thought-provoking event. Saying "calming" implies that you like something. Perhaps a Freudian slip on her part.

For me, the strongest reaction I ever had thinking about the Holocaust was a Euro history class where we were going over Holocaust death tolls. I remembered one of the figures, 90% of them dying in Poland. The actual human stories have never made much of a difference to me, but that did, because imagine it: something like nine-tenths of everybody you know suddenly being dead.

I doubt Tlaib has ever had an experience like that.

CNN is protective of Jews. They fired Marc Lamont-Hill as a commentator for suggesting violence against Israel by Palestine in his “from the river to the sea” speech.

Don't forget Rick Sanchez. All he did was just mention the heavy Jewish ownership of media.

Tiabs a public figure dude, she needs to be aware of how her words are going to be seen, and can't be flippant about these issues.

It's why AOC is currently being ripped apart. She's calling everyone else idiots and using Internet memes to deflect from the fact she has little understanding of shit. Can't play dumb on the public stage and not expect backlash.

Jeremy Corbyn was also, rightly, yanked over the coals when he said Bin Ladens death was a tragedy. In context he actually meant it was a shame he was quietly shot in the back of the head rather than spending a lifetime in isolation, but think before you speak for fucks sake.

Ocasio-Cortez confronts CEO for nearly $2K price tag on HIV drug that costs $8 in Australia
762361

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) confronted a CEO Thursday for pricing a drug designed to reduce the risk of HIV transmission at $8 in Australia but over $1,500 in the U.S.

"You're the CEO of Gilead. Is it true that Gilead made $3 billion in profits from Truvada in 2018?" Ocasio-Cortez asked Gilead CEO Daniel O'Day.

"$3 billion in revenue," he clarified.

"The current list price is $2,000 a month in the United States, correct?" she asked, referring to Truvada.

"It's $1,780 in the United States," O'Day responded.

"Why is it $8 in Australia?" Ocasio-Cortez countered.

"Truvada still has patent protection in the United States and in the rest of the world it is generic," O'Day explained, adding, "It will be generically available in the United States as of September 2020."

"I think it's important here that we notice that we the public, we the people, developed this drug. We paid for this drug, we lead and developed all the patents to create Prep and then that patent has been privatized despite the fact that the patent is owned by the public, who refused to enforce it," Ocasio-Cortez said.

“There’s no reason this should be $2,000 a month. People are dying because of it and there’s no enforceable reason for it.”

We the people developed this drug. We paid for this drug. Despite the fact that the patent is owned by the public, we refuse to enforce it. There is no reason this should be $2,000 a month. People are dying for no reason.

Truvada is a prophylactic treatment for HIV or AIDs that reduces the risk of infection.

At first it seems reasonable then the AOC stupidity happened, I'll be ignoring everything up until this part:
“There’s no reason this should be $2,000 a month. People are dying because of it and there’s no enforceable reason for it.”
....
Truvada is a prophylactic treatment for HIV or AIDs that reduces the risk of infection.

If someone doesn't have HIV then maybe don't have unprotected sex with those that have HIV. No one has ever died from not fucking an AIDS patient.

Gilead Sciences literally just pledged a donation of this drug--for literally free--for the uninsured through the CDC. That means, literally, hundreds of thousands of high-risk poor people (and let's be frank, they're mostly gays and trannies) are now going to get this for free. And she's pissed off because...Gilead Sciences isn't bankrupting itself?

The reality is, this donation was secured by the Trump Administration, and she simply can't bear to believe that he did something for one of the Democrats' dependent groups that she hasn't. She's panicking in her desperation to save face, so she's essentially trailing behind Trump, sniffing and griping that "you should've done it long ago, you greedy assholes".

This is how you ensure that companies don't do things like this, Occasional-Cortex. Just sayin'.

You are literally killing faggot culture with hatespeech like this. Slamming crystal and barebacking is central to the homogay identity in the United States.

edit. You might as well tell black people to stop smoking weed. God himself crossbred White Widow with AK-47 and only he can tell them to stop smoking White Russian.

DC Sends Cease And Desist Demand Over Wonder Woman AOC Cover

This week, Devil’s Due published the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & The Freedom Force: New Party, Who Dis? comic book. A number of comic book retailers ran exclusive retailer covers, including this one for NY Collector Cave by Carla Cohen which Bleeding Cool posted a couple of weeks ago. In which AOC bears a stunning resemblance to Wonder Woman. Too stunning it seems for DC Comics whose legal team, after reading the article on Bleeding Cool (Warner Bros IP traffic spiked in the days after we posted that article), sent a cease-and-desist notice to DEvil’s Due and the NY Collector Cave demanded that the comic in question not be distributed, but recalled and returned or destroyed.

But by that point, the horse had already bolted. The exclusive retailer covered comic had been printed, to a limited cover print run of 250, and sold to many a collector. And anyone trying to resell the comic has also been hit with a similar notice

But it does mean that what was once a 250 print run is going to be a lot smaller. And once again, DC Comics have accidentally created an insanely hot collector’s item, which will perpetuate the image they most objected to for years and years to come. Like right now.

Originally the NY Collector Cave sold copies for $30 – though the listing has now been withdrawn. Yesterday, copies were selling on eBay for $40. They have now been taken off eBayaside from one, currently listed at $70. Buy it while you still can, they aren’t going to be making – or possibly listing – any more…

$100 each by the end of the weekend?

How valuable is Sarah Palin merch?

Also AOC should definitely sit down with some wine and do a live read.
