I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

This right here is the stupidest thing I've heard all week.

Come on, we got one more day for AOC to top that statement, she has quite the talent for asinine bullshit so 24 hours might just be enough.

She's a bold hot latina and she has an asteroid named after her
And she's got such a fiery demeanor
She wants to save her environment
The best woman in government
Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez
Yeah

I had a latina professor like her in college and she was fucking nuts. Her class had no structure, worst students, and generally lax in grade. We did field trips like children and it was fucking awful. Her message of change, activism and just overall approach to life reminds me so much about Cortex....

She was super hot for her age and had a caveman of a husband who is clearly a cuck and spoke some awful English. He was part of the class sometimes as an "assistant." I think she is keeping him around because of his clear lack of intellectual capability. ( Exact same as Cortex's cuck soy live in boyfriend )

I understand where she is coming from and I genuinely think she says what she believes....that scares the shit out of me....

So you're going to troll us by posting pics of an attractive woman?

I mean the poetry was awful but that is a lovely picture.

She's got nice tits but her face pisses me off. There's just something off about it.

Had similar latinx professors (without the husband assistants lol), they also tend to be over-confident of their ability to think rationally or well in general.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Calls For Donald Trump's Impeachment

m.huffpost.com

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined the growing chorus of politicians calling for Donald Trump’s impeachment.

The freshman congresswoman from New York made her thoughts known in a very brief tweet on Friday.

It’s not exactly a surprise, especially after their harsh Twitter exchange last Sunday night.

It started when Trump tweeted out a truncated quote from Ocasio-Cortez that warned how Democrats could lose the 2020 election.

Ocasio-Cortez said: “I think that we have a very real risk of losing the presidency to Donald Trump if we do not have a presidential candidate that is fighting for true transformational change in the lives of working people in the United States.”

Trump cut off the last part of her argument, tweeting:

The New York Democrat fired back a few hours later and told the president that impeachment was a very real possibility.

In April, Ocasio-Cortez said she’d support a resolution introduced in March by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) that would look into whether the House should impeach the president.

Currently, nearly 70 members of the House, overwhelmingly Democrats, have called for an impeachment inquiry of Trump.

This story has been updated to note that Ocasio-Cortez said she would support an impeachment resolution in April.

Fail to impeach him just in time for elections and increase Trump's power?

The people saying she's a mob pawn might be right

A member of Poland's Parliament wrote an open letter to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday, inviting her to visit the sites of Nazi concentration camps in his country.

In his letter, Dominik Tarczyński extended an “olive branch of education” to the New York Democrat, giving her a brief history of the Nazi occupation of Poland and expressing his “distress” about the congresswoman's comparison of concentration camps to U.S. facilities.

“This is why when someone cheapens the history, or uses it for political point-scoring, we become agitated and upset,” Tarczyński wrote. “I understand that there are heightened tensions in your politics right now, but I would urge severe caution in attempting to leverage phrases such as 'concentration camp' for political ends. It will lead nowhere good.”

He also invited Ocasio-Cortez to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau, Treblinka, Belzec, Sobibor, and Majdanek so the Democrat could “study the concentration camps here for real” and “see first hand how different it is from [the] immigration processing centers on the U.S. border.” The official Twitter accounts of both the Auschwitz Memorial and Yad Vashem tweeted to her amid the fallout of her comments.

This comes after Rep. Ocasio-Cortez said in a Monday Instagram Live video that the United States is holding immigrants in concentration camps at the southern border.

She has continued to stand by her comments.

“At these camps… over three million human souls were extinguished,” Tarczyński finishes the letter.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has yet to comment on the invitation.

What are the chances she'll spin doctor this to make herself the victim again? (See "cat calling" when Shapiro asked for a debate.)

Honestly, the concentration camp comment made me miss the days of Sarah Palin's airheaded-ness. Sure Palin was a glory hound that talked big and turned tail when things got tough, but even she wouldn't make a comment that insensitive. (That and she's not a socialist.)

How many of the Sarah Palin gaffs are actually her and not SNL-type "jokes"?

This is an example of one of the most common pro-life arguments. Explaining in detail what the procedures can actually look like and relying on Drs who are former abortionists and former planned parenthood workers like Abby Johnson. The Mainstream media tends to ignore this kind of thing and focus in on religion because its the easiest to argue against.

You can also see this with the March for Life. Vastly smaller protests get far more coverage than something in America that is among the largest of protests held annually since 1974 that draws somewhere in the tens to hundreds of thousands every year. I dont know of anything like it with the same kind of longevity and consistency of numbers. The only reason it even popped up in the news this year was because of Chief Meth Mouth.
5f1.gif and I mean this for real, I don't think I can't live right now

the only one i remember very clearly that wasn;t just a bimbo or alaska joke ("I can see russia from my backyard!") seemed to be the death panels schtick. she was pilloried for that, except it's turned out to be exactly true in the UK and canada as their healthcare selectively treats conditions. the whole shit about the UK ordering an abortion is also real fucking nasty too.

i don't see how anyone can look at the government running healthcare services and not understand that it will inevitably turn into that. governments are bad at everything they do and i'm not even a hardline libertarian by any means.
