I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

But I would say above all that is the fact that Islam is, at its core, a MANS religion. Men are uplifted and given honor. Women are lowly and expected to serve. That's why it is so bizzare to see these women claiming to be Muslim and yet engaging in politics, having affairs, parading around criticizing men, etc. I seriously doubt they pray or fast. A devout Muslim would never view them as a true muslim.

They are duping a western audience who thinks that wearing a certain type of head scarf makes you a Muslim.

Yep, one point in my life I was fascinated by extreme christian groups especially those that fell under Quiverfull movement*. They aren’t anywhere near as bad with women that even more mainstream islam belivers are. For example a woman is expected to dress modestly but that is to help men, ultimately it’s the men’s job to keep eyes away from temptations. While a man is leader of the house, it’s strongly advised that he listens and follow advice from his wife and other women especially issues around house keeping and child rearing as those ladies domains. It’s completely okay to go against your husband if he is doing something against the Lord or otherwise harming people. For example it’s adviced to turn your husband to the police if you find out that he molested kids (you cannot divorce him and should wait for get out prison with open arms but still). These fundamentalist groups aren’t super nice to women but they are alot better what many forms of Islam have offer.

* Basically Quiverfulls believe that highest call for any Christian is out breed the nonbelievers and set their kids to Evangelize the world. They are against all forms of birth control even timing methods and abstaining from sex. Of course you need be married to have sex but after that you should let God decide how many kids right for you.

That said, Omar does a crap job following Somalian standards for correct Muslim practice. All the devout Somali women in my area essentially wear tents with only their faces uncovered.

Am Minnesotan, can confirm. I see very rarely Somali women in full face covering (only eyes exposed) but the norm is that only their face is exposed, hair and the neck/shoulders are covered. Ilhan's manner of dress is more liberal than the population of Cedar-Riverside. Which may technically be within the bounds of whatever specific Muslim culture Somalis belong to, but I'm sure it's calculated to appeal across broad lines to white women as well as her own, but that's not exceptional because that's just what normal politicians do. The only exceptional part of that is that anyone should be expected to believe that a "normal" Somali woman in Minneapolis would even be given the opportunity to run for Congress, because the men who run her culture won't allow it and the progtards outside who could pile on pressure will turn a blind eye to it.

And even that, well... chalk that up to Americanization. She may suck but in the long term I'll admit I'm still glad that the insular and women-hating cultures we import have a chance at getting aired out, even if we have to deal with people like her.

There's some different in how different generations dress. The older ones have looser and more colorful garbasaar covering the shoulders and sometimes regular clothes underneath. On the cultural side of things, the plan to take down Vic Mignogna has gone pear-shaped and has badly boomeranged on them in the worst ways possible. VICE and the other clickbait mills are sinking like the Edmund Fitzgerald, then you had the uproar over the Dave Chappelle Netflix special, more people are getting sick of YouTube and woke culture, and Zoe Quinn got a confirmed kill, sparking a growing backlash against cancel culture while all the SJW's who stan for her and cancel culture in general are only making that backlash more intense in the long run.

If 2011-2012 marked the dawn of the SJW Left with Occupy Wall Street and the reelection of Barack Obama, then I think that 2019-2020 are going to mark the beginning of the end for them.

A lot of upper middle class people legit think they're poor. They struggle paying their rent/mortgage in the most expensive metro areas in the country while also saving money for their kids' college education.
