I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Yeah, yeah, we've already heard this one before. Just knock it off already.
Where are the global warming apologists to explain she didn't mean what she said, she really means if we don't act quickly it'll be worse in 2 years, not that anything will actually have happened!

We are already underwater according to these people. Have been since about 2000. Too late, we all died already.

Someone needs to point out that Florida not existing is only slightly more of a concern than California not existing. And then only because Florida gives us the nonstop entertainment that is Florida Man.

Because it's some noname jew blog?
As it turns out, the Rothschilds, the Rockefellers, Henry Kissinger, and the Council on Foreign Relations were not conspiring to subject the planet to a one-world government.

Some interesting parallels don't you think Alex..., I mean ICametoLurk?

I mean the possibility that LaRouche caused her.

Remember there was a thing about DSA and MLK a while ago about some FBI files, that LaRouche talked about eons ago.

Would be funny as hell if LaRouche caused DSA. I remember Brianna Wu quoted him at the UN...

I'd ask if she has the same concern for all the ISIS accounts twitter consistently fails to take down, but I think we all know her opinion on those.

As much as I despise everything these creatures say, they represent a wide swathe of Western media consumers. Democracy isn't a guarantee of effectiveness, it's just a mirror of how shitty we all are. They deserve a podium, if only so the rest of us can document where it all went wrong for future generations.

Looks like someone is trying to do to AOC what AOC did to her predecessor. Khan is a woman, more ethnic(Bengali) AND a muslim so things might get tough.

Ocasio-Cortez faces primary challenge from second-generation Queens immigrant

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., will have to get through a primary challenger if she wants to hold on to her seat in 2020.

Democratic activist Badrun Khan, who has challenged Ocasio-Cortez for the Democratic nomination to represent New York's 14th district. says on her website that she'll provide "REAL Results... Not Empty Promises" -- an apparent jab at the socialist darling.

When asked about Khan's challenge, Ocasio-Cortez said: “I just focus on delivering for my district and doing the best job. I try not to focus too much on other folks in the field," according to The Hill.

Khan filed her statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Committee in July. The website for New York City's government confirms that Khan serves on Queens Community Board 2.

Khan's website doesn't appear to have an official announcement and she did not respond to Fox News' request for comment by the time of publication. Instead, her website detailed her background as a community activist and daughter of Bengali immigrants.

"Badrun has worked towards political and social empowerment for her community," her website read. "Her service has gone well beyond the Bengali community. She is an active presence in schools and service to all the residents in her Queens community. She has volunteered and served with honor as a member of Community Board 2. Badrun continues to works diligently each day to help her community and the people of Queens."

Khan's website says she wants to enhance Medicare and Social Security but appeared to take a shot at "Medicare-for-all," a plan championed by progressives like Ocasio-Cortez.

"She will fight to make sure Health Care is made available for all and that those who have existing coverage can choose to keep what they currently have," the site said, apparently referring to concerns that "Medicare-for-all" would take away private insurance.

From another article.
Canvassers for the anti-AOC group door knocked on over 5,400 Democratic households and interviewed 817 registered Dems. About two-thirds of respondents said they knew of the first-term congresswoman.

The survey even claimed that a third of Democrats were open to supporting a Republican challenger in the 2020 general election.
