I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

I can't tell if that's a joke or not, and I find that's my most common thought when I read political news these days.

Also, I don't think AOC has the capacity for self reflection. That would require her to be self aware.

Has anyone tried seeing what she does when presented with a mirror?

My money is on "call it racist."

Bernie Sanders and His Movement Will Win in the End, Thanks to AOC

The primary contests for Bernie Sanders have not gone as he’d hoped and, while the election isn’t over yet, the question now looms about what happens to the progressive movement after Bernie Sanders.

I think the answer to that was never centered around the presidential race to begin with. Which should be intuitive because the future of the progressive movement can’t be a 78-year-old white guy who’s been in politics for several decades, almost by definition. Bernie is a pioneer, not the future. The future is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. (And Ayanna Pressley. And Ilhan Omar. And Rashida Tlaib. And Katie Porter. That they are all women is not a coincidence. That they are all, except for Porter, women of color isn’t either.

Holy shit why isn't :story: a rating? That's my only response- there are no words for this.

I'm being a little facetious, but the actual quote is (she's talking about the Bronx, not Florida or someplace her comments make even a little sense) :

It's not that much better, really. NYC is extremely marginal for growing yucca. It's definitely too hard to grow in the Bronx compared to cauliflower. It's easy to say shit, it's not so easy to know what the fuck you're talikg about. I think colonialism would be growing plants from a colony like Puerto Rico in NYC, anyway.

What's hilarious is that there are recipes for cauliflower in Latino cultures. Yucca is also pretty interchangeable with a lot of other root vegetables. It's almost like humans are adaptable.

I've volunteered for P-patches before, and, get this, immigrants don't need to be lectured by anyone (whitey or the "woke") about what vegetables would work well with their cuisine. This is yet another example of how wokesters seem more racist than most white people. AOC apparently believes that minorities and immigrants have to be instructed by others on how to live their lives.

Imagine having to rationalize your champion getting BTFO by a literal dementia patient and this being the best you can come up with.

AOC Must Choose Between the Future and the Political Abyss

Joe Biden now commands a nearly insurmountable lead in Democratic delegates, thanks to a multiracial coalition including the white working-class voters Sanders believed he'd attract. Biden also has suburban women, whom Sanders hasn't even tried for.

This whole mythology of a socialist uprising by people of color, blue-collar workers and a wave of millennials has fallen apart. It isn't that many other Democrats don't like some of Sanders' proposals. Rather, they understand that their issues would be better addressed by Biden for the simple reason that Biden could defeat President Donald Trump and Sanders could not
The Justice Democrats have a nearly unblemished record of defeat. In the 2018 midterms, 16 candidates tied to Justice Democrats lost. None won. Bernie's Our Revolution movement backed 22 lefty Democrats. Twenty-two lost.

Black and Latino voters in AOC's own Bronx neighborhood overwhelmingly supported Crowley.

“Queens and Bronx citizens are fed up. And they should be. She’s never here. We pay her close to $200,000 a year. She has free medical care. We don’t. And now AOC calls us racists. We’re not racists. But keeping AOC in office makes us look like fools,” Ms. Caruso-Cabrera said.

She may be another lefty, and a journo into the bargain, but at least she's not an ugly little puta.

Ilhan Omar announced Wednesday on Instagram that she and Tim Mynett have married.

Minnesota U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar announced Wednesday that she has married Tim Mynett, a political consultant she has worked with and been romantically linked to.
Omar announced their marriage in an Instagram post that did not name Mynett. The Minneapolis Democrat finalized her divorce from husband Ahmed Hirsi in November, several months after Mynett’s wife, a Washington, D.C., physician, alleged in court filings that he left her after becoming romantically involved with Omar. Mynett and his wife have also since finalized their divorce.
Both Omar and Mynett had denied having an affair.
“Got married! From partners in politics to life partners, so blessed,” Omar’s Instagram post said. A spokesman for Omar said the two also married in the Islamic faith.
Allegations of a relationship between Omar and Mynett swirled last year and brought much scrutiny on the freshman congresswoman. Her relationship with Mynett is at the center of a Federal Election Commission complaint alleging that money Omar’s campaign committee paid to Mynett and his firm for travel expenses were for personal use.
Omar’s campaign paid Mynett’s company, E Street Group, more than $500,000 last year for consulting, advertising, fundraising and travel.
Omar’s marital history also came under political fire last year after it came to light that she and Hirsi filed taxes jointly while she was legally married to another man, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. She married Elmi during what she described as an impasse in her relationship with Hirsi. The marriage with Elmi legally ended in 2017, several years after she reunited and had a third child with Hirsi.
Omar corrected the tax violation but never explained it.

Does cortez think Chinese food actually comes from China? And how many husbands does omar have now?

No, but she's probably not willing to consider the idea that Chinese restaurants run by Chinese families might have a higher likelihood of having traveled to China or intimate contact with people who have and therefore maybe eating at their restaurants puts you too close for comfort.

There's a reason Washington state has a ton of cases. Seattle is full to the brim with chinamen.

Her brother isn't going to be happy about this. She's lucky she isn't back in the old country.
Idk where I read this but I recall that the reason why Omar married her brother was cause he was basically exiled to America cause he was a massive faggot, which is liable to get him in trouble back in Somalia.

So she ain't a brother fucker, just a lying scumbag that committed immigration fraud for a relative.

Scold people for being afraid for their families.

Jesus, do the Dems have a humiliation fetish?
