I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Just going to state the obvious and say that reparations is a crock of shit. Aside from the fact that there are no former slaves still alive in 2020, there's the issue of what exactly would reparations entail.

The most common idea of a single check wouldn't do anything to improve the lot of blacks, it's just another gibs payment.

I have seen SJW's push for preferential treatment of blacks in certain fields, like legalizing weed federally but only allowing blacks to be in the cannabis business legally, and some of the really unhinged ones have even advocated for a full-on black supremacist apartheid state. Both propositions would be highly illegal and unconstitutional, and would end up with a major backlash if anyone actually tried to implement it.

I could understand a single reparation check for the older living blacks who lived under Jim Crow laws, since that's a much smaller and more manageable pool of people and there is precedent with the government reparations for the Japanese-Americans interned during World War II or those soldiers and government employees who were exposed to radiation from the 1950's nuclear tests and their immediate families.

At that point, it's just sending out some checks and apology letters to old black Boomers in the South and lower Midwest, so the Millennials and Zoomers will still bitch endlessly.

But full reparations for slavery? Fuck that shit.

As someone whose ancestors fought for the Union Army during the Civil War, I personally think that the US Army already signed the reparations for slavery at Antietam, Shiloh Hill, Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Cold Harbor, and The Wilderness, among many other places.

Perhaps I'm being biased, but that doesn't change the fact that chattel slavery was abolished in 1865 and there's not a single person living in the United States today who was ever a slave or part of the old chattel slavery system

Maybe if AOC actually understood history and civics instead of critical race theory bullshit, she'd know this by now.

plus theres plenty of families where there is one black former slave in the family and the rest are white. so you'd have a number of whites getting gibs too

Isn't it reparations enough when she takes LeRoy's huge black cock while her skinnyfat ginger BF watches and holds her hands?

Pretty accurate IMO.

This is really more of a callout against TYT lol
Homeslice compares Chunk Uygur and TYT to the Cleveland Browns and tells Chunky to gtfo with his election advice because he got 5% of his own vote

Then he admits he's only defending AOC because he thinks she's hot. She's not even the prettiest member of The Squad (Ayanna Pressly GMILF) but he's pretty much right about one thing: There's a bunch of losers trying to call out a winner, even if she is an idiot.

Have you noticed that AOC stopped bitching about how the money she was making was "too low to live comfortably in D.C. these days? That was a big talking point when Horse Teeth first hit the town. I'm sure that has nothing to do with the fact that she has all the time in the world to sit around drinking in a "luxury apartment" that has private massage rooms, saunas, infinite pools, a wood-fired pizza oven, a rooftop pool, a PGA-grade golf simulator...

She must have just learned to live within her means on that meager, six-figure salary because she sure as Hell doesn't talk about that much anymore, does she? Funny how the ones who tell all of us that we're the ones who need to sacrifice are the ones who never seem to go without, isn't it? Some people just make it really easy to understand why the French built so many guillotines.

I'd be in favour of reparations if it was scientifically calculated. The percentage of slave blood you have (verified by historical records) weighted against the wealth of the descendants of slave owners at the end of the Civil War (ditto) is distributed in one payment. After the check clears, no complaints of racism will be accepted or taken seriously.

Maybe AOC should keep drinking, she might said more inconvenient truths that would be a wake-up call. On the other hand, she have to forget her chances to win the presidential nominee ticket for 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036,.... ;-)

AOC's rabble gived some materials to vlog for Styx along inspiring Youtubers to comment.

Of her 5 million Twitter followers, I'm willing to bet 4.9 million of them follow her strictly for the lulz.

They probably thought it was a parady account like the onion.

When will Uncle Sam compensate me for the property he took from my family?

AOC is going hard for the black vote. Talking reparations is nauseating cringe. Black people might prevail and get some reparations before the end of the world without AOC. Step off, Ms. Woke.

Haven't they already received far more than reparations would've ever amounted to through welfare, section 8, food stamps, free college, etc.?

Isn't there a large portion of the black vote that's against the idea of reparations? The idea of reparations are largely unpopular with everyone, and it's a divisive issue among black voters as well last time I checked.

The best reparation would be a lump sum of say $10,000 dollars, an end to US citizenship, and a ticket back to Africa where they can't be oppressed by white people anymore. Surely they will thrive in the land of their powerful ancestors, no longer isolated and alone in a sea of white supremacy.

*and an end to the $10+ billion in foreign aid every year.

Regionally, Africa receives 32 percent of all U.S. aid...

Once the first reparations payment goes out, it will never end, there will be endless demands for more and how it's not the recipient's fault they squandered it instead of using it to get ahead, that's why it should be opposed, like all gibs, you can't give it once to shut the whiners up, they'll just whine about how "you gave one, surely you can give another"

Like apoligizing to SJWs, the first time you do it binds you to do it again and again and again until you've been bled white

That's why politicians are all for it, "Moar Gibs in yer next Gibs check" is how they plan to get elected in perpetuity.
