I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Some of these people on this "targeted list" are Federal fucking judges and all three of the Supreme Court Justices he appointed. This woman is fucking crazy.
Kyle Kulinski in his attempt to make the Democrats more into FDR, instead turned them into legitimate communists. And Kyle is still simping for AOC.

So, now that Wheelchair Chad has been elected to Congress, how long do we think it'll take before AOC starts going after him like a crazed Latina who has her biological clock screaming in her ear?
Wheelchair guy is already fucking a Latina.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly told the New York Times in an interview that she might quit politics, depending on the hostility of her own party towards progressive causes.
"I don't even know if I want to be in politics," she reportedly told The Times. "You know, for real, in the first six months of my term, I didn't even know if I was going to run for re-election this year."
The Bronx native said the Democratic party has been hostile to progressive causes, like Medicare for All and the Movement for Black Lives.
"Externally, there's been a ton of support," she said, according to The Times. "But internally, it's been extremely hostile to anything that even smells progressive."
The interview happened Saturday, shortly after major news networks called the election for President-elect Joe Biden. While Biden won the presidency, Democrats down-ticket didn't fare quite as well, with some centrist party leaders blaming progressive messaging for the loss of House seats.
Ocasio-Cortez, who handily beat extremely well-funded opponents, pushed back on that accusation, blaming the losses on deficient digital campaigns and the avoidance of progressive issues. In a tweet, she said some campaigns spent $0 on digital ads the week before the election.
She also reportedly told The Times that she wants Democrats to stop looking at progressive causes as the enemy, and that if they don't, "they're just setting up their own obsolescence."
On Twitter, she said ignoring progressive activists deters Black, Brown, and youth organizers who help deliver victories for Democrats.
"I chose to run for re-election because I felt like I had to prove that this is real. That this movement was real. That I wasn't a fluke," Ocasio-Cortez reportedly told The Times. "That people really want guaranteed health care and that people really want the Democratic Party to fight for them."

Im thinking her little dox threat stunt and slapfight with Nancy Pelosi are what caused. A good chunk of the dems likely fucking despise her and the squad in secrret for being a bunch of brats who have no idea how the system works and just ask for fucking wishlists. However they keep her and the squad around because they think "Hey they will attract younger, female, and/or poc supporters to us. I think the dems are realizing that the squad and their politics do more to scare away people than gain them.

Can't say I'm surprised.

The "progressive" movement has radicalized themselves to be REGRESSIVE; chiefly, the riots, the extreme pandering, the T.

@Syaoran Li mentioned that the Squad and SJW movement will be set aside over time. Only because they were useful idiots and now harmful to the brand. This may well be the start of it.

I'm appalled the DNC allowed themselves, and eventually culture, to entertain it to begin with.

Tbh it’s a common fate with a lot of radical movements, the brown shirts being the most extreme example. Obviously the squad and antifa aren’t going to get shot but once they’re more of a liability than an asset they’ll be set aside.

Well, it isn't the squad per-se, it's the Democrats as a unit.

AOC (and others) probably actually bought into the Biden/Harris rhetoric - primarily around "racial justice"/"economic justice" and is now discovering (along with Black People everywhere) that Democrats will say anything to get your vote and discard you and your ideas immediately once they've got it. AOC was (and always will be) someone Democrats can trot out and pander to the "Bernie Voter" demographic on twitch.tv while giving those voters 0 actual tangible benefits. She's been amazing at attacking Donald Trump and grabbing tons of headlines and possibly really believed she'd be able to carry that momentum into actual policy - when Nancy Pelosi regards her as nothing more than a useful idiot and the Democrats at large want to get back to business as usual, where they just do nothing and make money for doing so.

It's much larger than AOC and Pelosi - Democrats by and large bought into the narrative that extreme left ideas (No police, new flavors of racism, socialism) were a winning strategy only to find that for a "normal" voter they're actually toxic and hurt them long-term. They thought they were going to sweep through every race (Govenors, House, Senate, and the President) only to find themselves either narrowly winning or outright losing and are losing more than they're winning.

These results are damaging - the Democrats' spend a ton of social capitol on these races. The NBA/NFL/etc saw huge backlash and loss of revenue due to social messaging. Facebook/Twitter/News Media looked really bad and did permanent damage to their brands and messaging power. It's capitol they cannot afford to spend again and the blew it all and got virtually nothing for it.
