Nope, games at 720p/30/low can be played on almost anything, the main concern is making sure that the game settings fits in the available VRAM or else it turns to shit. I played RE7 and Devil May Cry 5 on my €700 ~2012 laptop that only had a GT740M that used DDR3. Perfectly fine.
Terrible screen quality, and I'd be surprised if it was 480p. Vita's screen looked better, and not just the OLED. I don't know why Nintendo always picks such shitty screens. It was especially noticeable on Wii U and 3DS, but of course this goes back to GB and the original GBA too, even Virtual Boy.
Hold a PSP 3000 next to any Nintendo screen and the only major differences are backlight illumination and size.
As nice as it might sound, spending a shit ton of money to acquire Square Enix only to have them focus exclusively on traditional games would be a really, really bad business decision. Also, the thought of my weeb shit being exclusive to Nintendo hardware does not spark joy.
Gamepad was 480p, most games output 720p though. So playing on the gamepad downsampled to 480p, making them look better on the gamepad sometimes.
There's that credible leak indicating a remake, I'm sure it's coming. They've been pumping out tactics games recently, I'd be surprised if their main one didn't get attention.
Would it? Look at their recent bombs in the last couple years. The only downside would be Nintendo's hardware restrictions, they'd be back to making PS3 looking games. But we'd get a lot of good games out of them.
They can survive a few bombs because they aren't putting all of their eggs in one basket. Digital entertainment is only part of their revenue, mobile games and MMO's make up like 3/4 of that.
Being exclusive to one platform and Nintendo having creative control is a pretty big downside.
And all of that would continue under Nintendo ownership, so they would lose nothing in the buyout, but gain better leadership. Its a win-win.
I'm sure they can but selling off their western studios indicates their direction was unsustainable. Now Forspoken rubs that in even harder. The mobile games would definitely continue under Nintendo who wanted to break into the market themselves but failed.
Platform exclusivity is just something that's always existed, it's kind of annoying but it's not like the woke competition should even exist or be supported at this point. I'd just be happy a blow was dealt to them. Normally I'm all for competition as it helps keep the industry healthy, but these aren't normal times.
Its not really a mid-tier game when it has a AAA budget. Also, those mid-tier early 2000s games were charming. This is just cringy and bad.
