The Square Enix Griefing Thread

Finished Star Ocean 6. It's kinda meh. Exploration is good due to the fun flying around. Minigame is also very fun though braindead easy.
The plot is boring, literally 90% on one planet with evil empire plot that only has token effort in complexity. The main villains could be interesting but they're pretty stock if you watched enough scifi plots and lose their place so evil Emperor takes the spotlight (and you fight that dude like five times).
The combat is pretty bare bones. It just doesn't really develop and by the end my entire strategy was having the main character buff himself and dimension door into enemies (unless they're ones where the attacks never lands like that fucking bird), or use the starting combos. Having a grid to learn skills reduces the fun of leveling up since you'll just immediately gun for the most useful skills and then get bored as nothing changes besides the numbers. The VA system doesn't really work for bosses so it's better to just keep the defence buff instead of zooming around.
Also holy shit the characters are really fragile and the AI is brain dead. I swear video game AI has only gotten worse since the playstation 2 and allies will walk into enemy attacks and get vaporised constantly, or range characters will continually attack bosses point blank without the ability to tell them to keep their distance.

Until the last six bosses I was on hard but reduced it to normal after the game buffs the bosses defence to an insane degree, making each fight a 15 minute slog where I died due to the boss spamming an AOE effect three times in a row while AI allies decided to bunch up. The boss immediately afterwards died in a less than a minute so something in the design is wonky (probably the devs just brainlessly multiplying stats).

It's not bad but it is very forgettable and clunky.

Final Fantasy 2021: George Floyd Reborn

Every modern female FF character is black and fat, also lesbians and trannies

What do you mean we need a story in our rpgs!?
A Final Fantasy game where Tidus stops Asian Hate or American mass shootings, and Cloud and Tifa are seen supporting Ukraine, or some other bullshit.

"Fuck Sin and Shinra, or whatever world level threat we're facing, we need common sense gun laws!"

Key Factors/Quotes:
  • Sales were 255,616 million yen, down 6.6% year-on-year. Operating income was 41,315 million yen, down 17.6% year-on-year.
  • Looking at the Digital Entertainment unit, which includes video games, net sales were 184,380 million, down 12.9% year-on-year, while operating income was ¥38,735 million, down 21.6% year-on-year.
  • Sales of HD games (non-GAAS games for consoles) failed to reach the level of the previous year despite the launch of multiple new games. During the previous fiscal year, Square Enix launched titles like NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139..., Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Outriders, and this year's games simply weren't able to generate the same results.
  • A drop in the MMO segment was to be expected. As well as Final Fantasy XIV may be doing, it's hard to compete against the quarter (Q3 in the previous fiscal year) in which Square Enix released the highly acclaimed and extremely profitable Endwalker expansion.
  • Smartphone and browser games also suffered from the weak performance of existing titles, contributing significantly to the decline in sales.
  • That being said, we hear that Square Enix has "multiple new titles planned, including titles featuring new IP" for the HD Games segment. While no expansions are planned for the MMO segment in the short term, the company "will focus on retaining users through a variety of operational initiatives." As for browser and smartphone games, the company has "additional titles slated for launch in Q4 and beyond."

I still wonder why AAA companies have to stay in business if they keep losing money
