The Square Enix Griefing Thread

Spunky looking redhead with a gigantic Bui-type axe, what game do I have to buy? Asking for a friend.

Isn't really that all their other games tanked so hard that not even FF16 could save them? Crap like Forspoken and the like?
That's pretty much the reason. However the much bigger problem is that FF16 IS a flop and not wasn't the endless cashcow stream they hoped it would be. Not to any fault of Square's honestly but more due to the PS5 simply being a flop itself.

The PS5 regardless of quality is a bunk console by this point. We still have releases for the previous Gen to this day. Most game companies have no confidence in it. Sony has no confidence in it and the launch was disastrous. Especially since PC Master Race is only growing larger by the day.

Surely doubling down on westernization and woke SJ politics will save them... possibly expanding their ethics department might help as well! A policy of forcing creators to watch western streaming exclusives can't hurt. They also clearly didn't go edge-lord/realistic/super serial enough either!

Especially since PC Master Race is only growing larger by the day.

It's just a shame it's fanbase cucked out and allowed the industry to build a huge gate with which to keep, for the platform.

Speaking of Dragon Quest, is DQ9 any good single player or does it just feel like playing a multiplayer game alone?
DQ9 single player, main story is pretty short but still decent imo. All your party members are custom characters, don't expect much story coming from your party beside NPCs. Like your characters are probably around Lv30+ something by the time you done with story.

Technically my first mainline DQ game, I didn't know about post game contents back then, I didn't delve into it that much. Majority of the game is the post game stuffs.
Play it if you want something grindy and really into the whole RPG class team building. if having any interest for post game that is.

For some reasons, I don't see anything about Dragon Quest Monsters the Dark Prince in recent Nintendo Direct USA. But for JP.
Maya gets censored, she looks really silly with wearing bra outside of her top cloth.

This kind of shit is one of the reasons why modern SE deserves to die:

Seriously.. this is her "swimsuit" skin!

And remember that this is the Japanese/Asian version!
Why does she have a bikini top and a bra under a shirt? Is she homeless?

They really are utterly fucking terrified of a snarky Kotaku article over at Square Enix aren't they?

Feminists don't buy games and horny sells. Look at Nier Automata.

I would personally blame CERO (the japanese game rating board) not allowing anything remotely sexy for A-rated games (aka "All Ages" - what Dragon Quest most often aim for).
Like how Hikari and Homura from Xenoblade 2 both have altered designs for Super Smash Bros (rated A in Japan) for example.
FF16 is rated M though and they went out of their way to put very out of place looking bras and panties on the mutilated corpses you can find throughout the game.

I think it's deeper than that.

I deleted my post (albeit too late as @Sniperwoof sniped it immediately) because my reasoning didn't seem to hold up when Dragon Quest Monsters 3 is actually rated CERO B (12+) in Japan, after properly checking up.

Edit: The game is apparently an international release, as it has multiple languages supports (English, German, Italian, French) in addition to Japanese according to the Japanese eshop page. So it's basically a case of Square-Enix not bothering with a separate japanese version and thus keeping the censorship for the western markets.

They lost a fortune on shit like Forspoken and Babylon's Fall but they also lost a ton on FF16. It isnt the only cause of their losses but it is a big loss too. Even moreso in terms of opportunity cost, their biggest franchise, their flagship series that represents the company failed.
