Watch them release Part 3 on Switch 2 without releasing the first two.
Similar to how Mass Effect 3 was released on the Wii U, with no release of the other two on the console. It just seems so incomplete unless they release all the games on different consoles, even previous-gen ones like MGSV did.

Because Japanese Publishers are likely helmed by Boards of stereotypical Old Japanese Men - there aren’t many demographics more resistant to change than that one. Add in decades of seeing the market outside of Japan as Bonus Points more than anything else, the pivot being this slow makes some amount of sense.
 
Crossposting from the Sony sucks thread again (credit to @Terrifik), but apparently, Square Enix's profits year over year went down by almost 70%.
This is what happens when you put in an Ethics department, release half-assed games, and keep trying to push for mobile games and NFTs. This isn't just console exclusivity. Rebirth turning 7 into some woke, multiverse shit that doesn't let you use Vincent and Cid didn't help the game either.

They're also laying off their Western staff (except for the Ethics Department). The antisjw retards like Yellowpiss are calling this a win, but Squeenix has been fucking up before the Ethics Department was a thing. This mean nothing if Squeenix will still work with woke firms like Black Girl Gamers and Sweet Baby or hire soy faggots with pronouns.

Not sure if it's been mentioned here. SE added another trophy to it a few months ago. Some 'trophy-hunters' are madge that they've had to redownload that slop and complete another batch of boring as hell solo missions. There's three new missions for each of the six characters, which is well cruel.
It's their way to artificially inflate active player numbers, I bet.

I'm glad I stopped giving a shit about Trophies a while back.

I'd prefer them making an HD 2d remake of chrono rather than just porting the mobile games
Chrono Trigger deserves the AAA treatment if they're going to bother at all, not some funky looking low budget HD-2D thing.

And at least a lazy port may not include the type of censorship a remaster or remake absolutely will, like Cross did.

The problem with Trophies (and achievements in general) is that they have no middle ground. Either almost all of them are piss easy and given to you for doing basic shit, or they're retardedly difficult to get because you need to be the same kind of person that also happens to wear programming socks in order to reach that goal. So you're basically getting insulted from both sides.

But I also found that even decent trophies took the focus away from the game and distracted me from just organically enjoying it.

If it was something like finding a collectable I'd scour the area for that, something I typically do not give a shit about that adds nothing to the experience, only dragging it down. It's neither braindead/automatic nor particularly difficult, but just uninteresting.

Maybe if there were cool challenges or something that gives you a different perspective of the game that might work, but a lot of games just don't lend themselves to that kind of thing, and it's easier said than done.

Yeah, the whole trophy/achievement system has been broken from the start on everything. Sorting your games by percentage of trophies earned makes for an arbitrary list. Lots of games have trophies that've been flat-out broken from the start, or disabled from server shutdowns. So, trying to look at your trophy score as a whole is a total wash.

On an individual game basis, trophies are best when they're used like a tutorial, or aimed towards getting you to try something you might not have ever thought about. Very rarely do games ever do this.

Collectable ones are the worst. It's just busywork for no real reward.
 
If I am going for trophies or cheevos or whatever it means I fucking love the game. I have 100 percent in Just Cause 2 and thats about it, otherwise IDNGAF, as God intended.

Speaking of Mana, as a n00b, which game out of the whole series should I start on? I was thinking the SNES game Secret of mana, but I read that Final Fantasy Adventure (GB) / Sword of mana (GBA) is supposidly the first regarding canon, so should i start there and work my way down properly?

Imo, it doesn't really matter. Since it's kinda like ages between game timeline.
Timeline is kinda this that I remember, Children of Mana (NDS) -> FFA/Sword of Mana -> Trials -> Secret.
Sword of Mana is somewhat a remake to FFA. The male and female protagonists in that game are two different characters, not just usual pick your gender. They actually have some different perspective throughout the game in both story and gameplay. Considering original FFA, you only play as the boy and the girl is more like Princess Peach.

So the green thing is male. Hmm...

Entirely understandable. I was even shitting myself going into SMRPG because they often can't even be trusted with their classics anymore.

Personally I've always thought Sword of Mana for GBA is the best one, but even though it's technically not part of the series I also suggest Secret of Evermore.

I don't trust Wikis and such on this type of thing anymore. I wonder what the Japanese version really says.
