The terms "right" and "left" when used in a political context are meaningless

They are easy ways to invoke the lizard-brain conflict reaction and disable critical thinking. They do not define anything with any degree of certainty. They are only used to enable wider division between people and obfuscate the real issues. Both sides are guilty of performing the actions of the 'opposite' side: IE right-wingers do left-wing things, and vice versa.
People tend to think of people "on the other side" as sub-human and do not accord them the same degree of empathy and respect they deserve. True freedom is tolerating views you find disagreeable as long as actions don't infringe upon other rights
Anyone using these terms to seriously describe political affiliations or ascribe intentions automatically are autistic. Stop listening to what people say and pay more attention to what they do: that's where you will find peoples' true intentions. Labels are only skin deep. Discuss.

Democracies were too far a swing for the man of the West, monarchies were too old and a Tragedy of the commons seemed the better fit. Now though we swung back toward giving power to structures and hierarchies of spook, soldier and policeman and the secret societies that their elders mix in, without any clarity of the openness of monarchies as to who is to blame. Is Dr. Fauci a creature of democracy and party, or a senior member of a trusted bureaucracy? We don't care for democracy when things get serious, do we know better or is it just the man of the West's instincts to do so? Neither Right nor Left though, at least. It lets people say "Oh that commentator is X wing, you can't trust him/her" and leave it at that.

Words and meanings evolve. It's the reason why "populist movements" still exist 2000 years after the populares, why socialism is considered "in between" capitalism and communism, and why we call our constitutional republican system a "democracy." While the terms left and right aren't used to describe our position on the French monarchy anymore, they're an easy and clear way to refer to two opposing poles on a political spectrum.

In-group bias like that is inevitable whether you have 2 or 200 "sides."
Also, left and right is a spectrum, not a binary. The point is to classify different ideologies on their position between two poles relative to one another. While you can say "ideologies A B and C are left and X Y and Z are right," I think it's much more useful to be able to say say "A is more left than C, which is more left than X".

If you're asking why we don't have more than 2 sides in the west, any "democratic" system will eventually devolve into 2 teams. As for the political spectrum itself, the 2 poles are useful for visualizing historical phenomena (such as Conquest's second rule), or organizing ideologies between two extremes (such as autocracy vs anarchy). There are attempts to classify ideologies along more than 2 poles, such as the political triangle and the political compass, though I feel these attempts often have flaws and begin to stray from a useful model into simple categorization.

There's no such thing as common sense. What's normal and necessary for someone will be abnormal and unnecessary for someone else.
As for the social groups you list above, I'd say it IS their right to be any of those things, with the obvious exception of shooting and stabbing white people.
