Adam Stackhouse didn't write the ED article on Chris. That was Jason Kendrick Howell. He did so after Sonichu was discovered by Something Awful and spread to /b/ around Halloween 2007.

My favorite part of this is that troonworld was telling everyone not to believe any of it because it was coming from 'kiw*f*rms' which is not to be trusted

Now that that everything is in public view because of criminal charges, the narrative immediately switches to "nevermind not believing, you must ignore it because recognizing the truth encourages our enemies"

I've been a critic of Kiwifarms in the past and I still don't approve of a lot about how discussions here are conducted, but the way the post-woke bluecheck set has reacted to Chris raping Barb has convinced me that free speech maximalism still has its place online and that tons of Very Good, Very Serious People don't actually give a shit about human evil as long as it's not directed against a Marginalized Identity. Of course, senile old women ARE marginalized, but most of these brats probably don't realize that and think they have boomer privilege instead or something.

No matter how one feels about this site in general, it's good to have places where people still care more about what someone like Chris does than what he says. Call me a faggot or a retard if you must-- I've heard worse--but that's my take.

Twitter troons literally aren't able to No True Scotsman him out of their group due to a defense mechanism called splitting. Their collective psychological defenses reveal the appalling lack of emotional maturity inherent to this group, as well as the frightening level of decompensation caused by the echo-chamber effect in such cult environments.

To be more specific, and to quote people more intelligent than me:

In Freudian psychoanalytic theory, defense mechanisms are psychological strategies brought into play by the unconscious mind to protect the mind/self/ego from anxiety and social sanctions and to provide a refuge from a situation with which one cannot currently cope. They are referred to as Ego defense mechanisms, and can be categorized as occurring when the Id impulses are in conflict with each other or with Superego values and beliefs, and when an external threat is posed to the Ego.

George Vaillant categorized defense mechanisms into four levels in 1977:

Level 1: Pathological: “psychotic” defenses permit one to effectively rearrange external experiences and eliminate the need to cope with reality. They are: delusional projection, conversion, denial, splitting and distortion.

Level 2: Immature: “immature” defenses lessen distress and anxiety provoked by threatening people or by an uncomfortable reality. They include: acting out, fantasy, idealization, passive aggression, projection and somatization.

Level 3: Neurotic: Such defences have short-term advantages in coping, but can often cause long-term problems in relationships, work and in enjoying life when used as one’s primary style of coping with the world. They are: displacement, hypocondriasis, dissociation, isolation, intellectualization, rationalization (making excuses), regression, repression and withdrawal.

Level 4: Mature: The use of these defenses enhances pleasure and feelings of control helping us to integrate conflicting emotions and thoughts, while still remaining effective. They include: altruism, anticipation, humour, identification, introjections, sublimation and thought suppression.

No True Scotsman is an example of splitting; the sharp delineation of things into "all good" and "all bad". This is a pathological defense mechanism considered basic to babies. It is common in borderline personality disorder as well.

For example, all white cis males are evil oppressors is an instance of splitting. The white cis male is "all bad", and the remaining groups are (potentially) "all good", i.e. incapable of evil. Any bad feelings about the "good" group are split away to the "bad" group. Of course, splitting can be applied almost infinitely, to the point where anything and everything is all bad/all good, usually in ways that contradict the object or person as a whole and lead to bizarre, abnormal behavior.

Chris, being an allegedly transgender CPU goddess or whatever who has been trolled, cannot be split as bad, because he is part of a group that the twitter troons self-identify with: the oppressed, the transgender, and the victims of KF. Hence the use of other Lv. 1 and 2 mechanisms (denial, distortion, projection, passive aggressive behavior, etc) to eliminate internal anxiety regarding the dissonance between "victim" and "rapist".

When they tell people to respect his pronouns even though he raped his mother, this is not so much an external argument about what to call Chris as it is a desperate attempt to stave off the sense that "one of their own" has broken bad. Psychotic/infantile defense mechanisms are very often contradictory in this manner to outsiders, even without taking into account the massive decompensation caused by the years these people have spent as part of a cult.

It's a mess.
