Anna doesn't know about the Hearts for the bullied thing, or if someone told her, she didn't look at it. Hell, whoever told Chris didn't get him to look at it, or if he did look at it, he didn't think too much about it. He just went back to whatever he was doing.

He seriously seemed a lot happier when he was interacting with the trolls on a regular basis. Contrast the way he looked then to the way he looks now. Chris craves attention, and the trolls gave it to him (even though it wasn't always the kind of attention he wanted).
Chris was happier back during the trolling because it coincided with a time in his life that was a lot less shitty. The troll girlfriends did seem like people to him for awhile, so that kinda boosted his mood a little, but I don't think it's as important as you theorize. I think his happiness back then was 60/40, just coincidentally his life was nicer / troll interactions.
But the theory that Chris is behaving the way because he wants to interact with trolls... it really doesn't work. And the reason it doesn't work is that trolls aren't people to Chris. Like, they're just not feasible as potential friends in his life. (
Heh, although, y'know, you could probably argue how how no one is a person to Chris. All the people he interacts just fill various slots in his life, like they're minimum wage employees in the cwc-iverse.)
