Some of them said it was gross, but it usually didn't come up since anime boys being sexualized isn't much as a big deal to them. However I did find it hilarious that they never really brought up Lucoa and Shouta during that time they were calling me a pedo for several hours. Shotacon is usually a huge blind spot for these people. I'm not sure why, though. Maybe it's just because most of these people don't actually enjoy it themselves (girl are and will always be more popular than boys), or due to the usual cultural hypocrisy of not really caring about boys in general.

Either way, you'll usually only see shotacon thrown in as an afterthought while they're raging against lolicons, or when said shotacon is being used for a kink they also find abhorrent.

There's also because they tend to insert themselves into the shota and claim its different. Than again they have no problem sexualizing the boys in mha.

Wonder how they would try to justify lucuoa creeping on shouta. My favorite thing about people getting upset abd try to use thr "but they're 1000 years old" line to mock people saying fictional characters are not human beings with human rights and feelings is that they can't list of specific child said character is based on. I wonder if they've ever seen a shortstack woman in their life. They probably get scared at the sight of midgets.

For a sort of explanation on why shota is overlooked particularly with this Luca example, I think it's also because it's a gay ship rather than a straight ship. In that it's seen as representation rather than porn. It's even dumber when they're all teens/tweens, not even in the "1000 years old" category.

In my experience the people who scream loudest and project ‘pedo’ the most usually have some emotional compromises. For men it’s probably because they’re deflecting and trying to hide the fact that they’re interested in loli or teens themselves, for women it’s probably because they are insecure about the idea of men finding 17 year olds more attractive than them, all the while drooling over teenage boys. Everything about this comes not from logic or reason, but an overly emotional standpoint. It’s easy to say ‘evil pedo’ than it is to have an actual intellectual debate, since the overwhelming majority of people have 0 self reflection.
