Sometimes, I have the urge to necrobump ancient 2013 posts that haven't been locked yet, for some reason. I never actually do it because it'd get me shoah'd, but do (You) have this urge too?

Exactly, it's like old basketball games. I still watch and enjoy them. They are still entertaining to this day. Old is gold. This modern obsession with everything being new is stupid.Sometimes it can be like a re-run of Law and Order. Like maybe you never saw it, so even if it's old, it's new to you. You just follow your heart, king.
I think it's fine depending on the context of the thread. For lolcow threads, there's no value in a post that just cracks a joke or asks "what happened?" when people use it for updates on the individual. However, I let necroposts slide if it's some amusing commentary, deep analysis, or an actual discussion of the individual, although that's a little subjective.I've always thought forums that get autistic about necroposting are stupid. What's the point of the forum format if you can't go back and bring up older topics you may be interested in? Chances are if people were interested in the topic at one time, other people who may not have seen it may still be interested in it.
It also seems stupid to have a bunch of threads all on the same topic just because the existing thread on a topic hasn't been posted in for a while. I fucking hate trying to search through a forum for something and you end up finding like 10 small threads on the exact same thing that only exist because the forum doesn't allow necroposting so every time someone new wants to talk about that topic, if it's been too long, they need to start a new thread.
I get disliking low effort necroposting but low effort posting should be mostly frowned upon in general whether it's an old thread or a new thread.
I was thinking more forums in general with my post. It just made me think of times I've been searching for something online only to see a bunch of results all from the same forum all talking about the same thing. Lolcow threads are a bit different and I get why necroposting would be a bit more moderated with them.I think it's fine depending on the context of the thread. For normal threads, I think it's fine if the post is amusing or revives a more open-ended topic.
