1995 was 30 years ago. I'll bet that proportionally, there are more generic OEM PSUs from 1995 that still work today than there will be from 2020 that still work in 2050. Chinese-made capacitors and their consequences have been a disaster for the PC master race.
Circa 2000 was the capacitor plague era, when even nichicon capacitors weren't immune from failure. I have a nonfunctional Made in Japan Roland SC-88 with leaky caps, truly it was the worst of times.

Besides there's a lot of other things that can go wrong other than capacitors.

Wasn't there a big thing with counterfeit capacitors flooding the supply chain and being impossible to avoid?

lol, lmao even.
I haven't updated my windows 10 in a couple of years or so. Nothing ever happens. Is there any reason why I should care about this "end of life support"?
You're more vulnerable to unpatched security issues, your system is inherently less secure if it's not getting regular security updates, but it's a minor risk. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you start to run into compatibility issues.

You can probably keep using it for another 5-7 years without too much issues, at some point you will have to upgrade though. It'll be the same story as it was with windows 7. Tons of people will still use it and then they will start running into serious issues and be forced to upgrade.

Wasn't that message supposed to be gone by now? I checked again today, and it's still there.

IoT editions (21H2) are currently reporting to not be receiving any more updates. Non-IoT ones (22H2) do not.

Allegedly, that's just a visual bug.
Post or pre October update?

I ask because the one for October went through a few days ago, and I don't see anything (outside of the false report on the microsoft website) that says updates are done or no longer being received on my PC. Where'd you source the info from.

Huh? It's all over the place. Whole companies are seeing this problem. Microsoft even had wrong information on their EoL website until two days ago stating that (IoT) Enterprise LTSC would be out of support despite being supported until January '27/'32.

I have no idea how the fuck Microsoft was able to do what no operating system in existence was able to, but they did.

Do not upgrade.
Did you even watch the video? The problem was with a programming error in GTA itself that always existed in the game, it just managed to never rear its head until now.

It's getting fixed in the next release of SilentPatch anyways (and if you aren't using SilentPatch for any games from the OG trilogy, you're doing it wrong) and you can already fix it yourself manually by editing part of the code that causes the problem as the video showcased.

Does that not fall in line with Windows 11's entire motto of "It doesn't matter if your PC can run it, if we say it can't it can't" and that's one of the many things we hate it for?

Of course I watched it, I'm still going to laugh at how Microsoft was able to have this happen.

Since generic PSUs are still failing at 18 months, and, by your own admission, you can't find anything that isn't a total pile of steaming shit unless you pay a premium, we're still not out of the woods. Wake me when your run-of-the-mill prebuilt has half the build quality my 1989 Packard Bell 286 did. We're not even at the baseline of the early 1990s, let alone in some sort of shockingly amazing era of super-high quality.

IoT Windows will run on (almost) anything, though, which is why people love it. It somehow seems to have went under a bit, but that IoT thing isn't just great for keeping Win 10 alive but also for allowing Win 11 to run on almost anything. It is also the least intrusive and annoying version of 11. The fixed taskbar is probably the worst thing about it.

I don't care how many glowies Microsoft puts in this forum I am not installing Windows 11

Fuck, it's Joever boys. Contact Unit 8200, Diggus Bickus is too smart for us glowies. Let's see him fight back against the full power of the Saturn Death Cult of Judaism! You WILL install Windows 11, you WILL use AI for everything, and you WILL enjoy it while eating bugs and getting your 37th COVID booster.

Out of morbid curiosity I really want to see the day to day of what a windows locked ecosystem type of PC user looks like in the modern day. When I say this I mean they use the dedicated modern microsoft programs provided for every single task they need to do. Groove music for music, outlook + the whole office suite, edge, microsoft clipchamp (LOL) + their amazing photo viewer, etc etc. Honestly I don't even know all the knew dedicated programs they've made for 11, as of recent there's a new terminal text editor of all things now

You really rarely if ever encounter people like this in the wild or see them documented. I know for a fact they exist, definitely not on youtube, but I'm confident they exist.

Windows 11 wouldn't be so bad if Microsoft suddenly dropped their fascination with implementing Copilot on literally fucking EVERYTHING. This AI bullshit is going to ruin ALL computer systems and software development. Normies actually don't like AI. I don't know anyone who actually uses voice commands on devices.
