The Witcher Game Series

Started up a fresh playtrhough with the new patch, got though White Orchard. The game looks so goodd, it could have been a brand new game instead of having ray tracing and the rest bolted on.

I'll probably be holding off on playing more until a hotfix comes out, though. I've already had two crashes to desktop, one while adjusting graphics settings and the other while alt-tabbing, and a glitch that's been in the game since initial release.

I was actually curious, because i have seen two articles (in Polish), basically saying, that the update fucked up the optimisation and the game works like shit - 4K is basically

unplayable without 4090, at least forget about 60FPS with RTX on, there is a LOT of stuttering, even on medium and low options, in 1080p, etc.

Got to the point that CDPR decided to address those issues on twatter, but with no ETA for the hotfix:

(don't think this is archive-worthy, even if they'll delete it down the line)

Anyone, who played the game after the patch: have you experienced any technical difficulties, major optimisation issues or FPS drop?

I saw a lot of comments, saying that everything is fine, as well as a lot of pissed-off people, leaving whole lotta negative reviews on Steam and GOG

I'm getting a steady 45-ish. Def not 60, but not as choppy as the console video I've seen. I have a 3080ti but I have everything maxed out at 4k. That first crash I had was with messing with the DLSS and FSR2 settings, but neither seemed to do anything.

I was hoping to play this on pc when I get my first one built in January but I'll try to avoid the update for this if it's possible. I guess they are going to have to make a new Brothers in Arms mod for this crap.

"Huh, I wonder how the new update is being received. Been hearing a lot about optimization issues, maybe I'll get some insight if I read some of the "most helpful" reviews of today-"

"...What?" :story:

On-topic though, sad to see there are plentiful reports of performance issues. But I still find it impressive how they fucked it up so much, considering The Witcher 3 HD Reworked mod had already done this and performance issues were not a common complaint. I guess the main benefactor of this update would be console owners, but if PC players are struggling like this... oh the horror.

Playing through it now, no issues. But I don't even think I'd notice 60 vs 30. Also, playing on console,PS5, since even though I do have the hardware I prefer my comfy couch and controller.

RT when raining makes the game a slideshow, have a 3060 in the work computer, at 1440p with DLSS. When its sunshine things work alright, around 30 FPS.

The whole country has turned into beggars, they even sold some of the ammo we paid for to Nigera.

I'm getting curious what hardware the people who are complaining have. Bumping it down to 1440, still at max otherwise, last night and I didn't go below 60 on my 3080ti. It's a beefy card, yeah, but it's a gen old and I'm being serious when I'm saying it's the best looking game out there.

So, I have Witcher 3 on PS4 and it also got the update. The fucking game disabled manual saves, so I'm relying on autosave for now. So when I try to sign up for cross progression, it tells me to sign up for a GOG account, which I do not have and have little interest in writing down YET another account information.

So, my questions are whether cross progression would fix the manual save problem? Is it even worth it to sign up to GOG just for this one game when I already have a Steam account? Do I need to get a PS5 to use the new saves? Because I don't want to get a PS5. Cause I'm thinking of getting rid of the game altogether. Breaking a key function of a working game fills me with hate and contempt for CD Projekt Red.

There's a reddit thread about exactly this. One person claimed signing up for GOG and claiming the rewards re-enabled manual saving, others are talking about deleting certain saves and other data but people are reporting mixed results with that.

Tried deleting 1.6 files. Didn't work. Would have to sign up for PS Plus and I don't want to do that either.

Oof, that's a serious "bug". It's part of the cross-save system, and should be optional. It's clearly not, and y'all need to complain until it's fixed.

Mine seems to do manual saves fine. But I'm on PS5 and signed up for the GOG stuff. Looks like only 10 slots though, which is just fucking annoying.

Did they patch in any new content? Or is it just graphical upgrades? Because I wouldn't mind some more quests. Witcher 3 doesn't suck so CDPR should lick their wounds and add new things to it still. If they are capable of doing that. Which they might not be anymore.

10 slots sounds like serious cloud gaming bullshit. Old local saves were working just fine before. Good job, anti-CD Projekt Red. They turned a working game into a buggy mess instead of the other way around.

Yea, I don't get it. The Horizon(Zero Dawn and Forbidden West) Games are even worse. And even worse than that if you want a second playthrough without stomping a previous one.
