Hey, completely unrelated question to what's been talked about. I don't know if you guys are that interested in the industry itself, but had Hurricane Katrina not done as much damage to Six Flags New Orleans as it did, where do you think the park would've ended up today? My best guess is that it would've been sold off along with the other small parks around 2007/2008 and possibly returned to the Jazzland name.

I can see where you're coming from with that, but I like to be optimistic and think it still would've been Six Flags New Orleans. Was it actually that small compared to other Six Flags parks or am I just fucking stupid?

Dollywood's a good theme park. It's one of my favorites, along with the smaller independent theme park Tweetsie Railroad.

Fun fact, both Tweetsie Railroad and Dollywood have a common ancestry, being both founded by Grover Robbins in 1957 and 1961 respectively.

Dollywood was originally a Civil War theme park called Rebel Railroad before becoming Silver Dollar City in the early 1970's and then being purchased by Dolly Parton and becoming Dollywood in 1986.

Oh she actually owned it?
I never really thought about it she licensed the name or actually was involved.
She used to have a dinner show or something in Orlando. Some bigass barn thing to you could see from I4 between International and 192.

I suppose I'm better off without the breaking and entering on my record, but I mildly regret not exploring the ruins of Xanadu and Splendid China.

The adventures of two guys who found out you could just get out of the car on Horizons at Epcot back in the day.

Yeah, it was fucking tiny. Look at the coaster count when Katrina hit: CCI hybrid that admittedly rocked, standard Vekoma looper that goes backwards!, Batman clone, boomerang, wild mouse, kiddie coaster. That's it. Probably tied with Elitch Gardens for the second-worst coaster lineup of any Six Flags park at the time (nobody's can be as unbelievably terrible as Great Escape's).

I had no idea we had a theme park thread but here I go necroing it:

my fave ride has to be either The Incredible Hulk Coaster or The Amazing Spiderman 3D ride at Universal. Also, I found out that apparently someone was 'fatshamed' in the park earlier this week, so I didn't fully bump this for no reason.

... so that's cool. Honestly, I can go into so much depth as to why her claim is littered with bullshite.

Martin Smith is a shining example of using the tisms for good instead of evil.

For those interested, Tweetsie Railroad's opening day for the 2018 season is Friday, April 6th.

Since I'll be with my grandparents around that time, I might save up some extra money and take them there since they live within a few hours drive of the park and tickets are relatively cheap compared to most theme parks (it's around $40 for a ticket, give or take), and going to Tweetsie Railroad is something we all like doing as a family. It helps that my grandparents are huge fans of Westerns, as Tweetsie is a Wild West theme park.

Sadly, I missed this year's Ghost Train (the park's annual Halloween festival held every weekend in October) and the debut of Tweetsie Christmas, but both looked pretty good according to the YouTube videos I saw.

Plus, even if it is a small independent park, it is one of the few theme parks I know that has a song dedicated to it.
