what kind of classical lit and shows and books will you backup? and for what reason?
For starters, the ones that got banned and/or censored. Also the reason why I wanna save those is because they're stories from another time with themes and ideas that still remain relevant today as well as provide a different perspective. They were products of their time after all and it provides a nice contrast on the reality people live in. Think of a kid who grew up in war-torn Syria and watched Arthur growing up. And wonders "Is it possible to have a life as nice as these animals?"

As for list, here's a few from the top of my head:

Shakespeare, Hans Christian Andersen, Emily Dickens, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, Orwell, and Huxley.

Eventually, this censorship craze will eventually reach China-tier and they'll try to control all forms of entertainment and media. Really hate how Western leaders right now want to be China but happily ignore the problems China is facing due to being China.

Would you recommend digital or physical format?

Archival:
- Download Kiwix so you can retain the convinient web format. Kiwix can grab wikipedia, project Gutenberg, wikibooks, Khan academy, lots of specialized websites, stack overflow, and more, each download one click away.

- For storage format, you should probably use the active archiving method, basically a combination of hard drives and BD-R discs. Setting up an STC that will last 100 years will set you back 300-600 bucks depending on how big you go. Shove it all in a toolbox and you are good to go.

- If you need info in a short term emergency, print it or just buy a condensed book version on the topic.

- If you have a brain worm like me you can download ALL THE BOOKS from LibGen.li/torrents/ then get the historical stuff from Google book scans, library of Congress, and archive.org

- If you want to preserve art you can mass download 130000 paintings from uncle Sam's github.

- if you are a weeb use haku neko to download Akira or whatever gay ching Chong shit you like.

All of this should be stored/accessed on a device that is not internet connected or a lan that doesn't connect to the internet. I like to host my own lan and access the front ends with a 30 dollar blu-shit phone.
