I've been a fan ever since I found the song Experimental Film when I was in 5th grade. I remember back then being really excited to find Flood at Barnes and Noble because I could never find their CDs anywhere at the time. I just saw them back in March in Covington, KY. They were really fuckin good, but everyone there looked like they were in town for a live McElroy brothers podcast show. I definitely didn't expect anybody on the farms to be into a band like them lol.

They were one of my favorite bands back in middle and high school, but I listened to The Spine once when it came out, don't remember anything about it, and haven't really listened to them since.

My parents liked them when I was little so I ended up listening to a lot of Flood and (later on) their children's albums. They were probably the one band I consistently liked throughout my life, but now that I'm older I'm a lot more tepid on them. The Johns' voices are kind of irritating in most contexts and I don't think they've had too many hits in the last few years. Last one I can remember outright liking was Thank You For Your Service (or was it Thankful For Your Service?).

They're definitely pretty hit-or-miss, and I don't agree with their politics, but it says something that even when I was going through my "vaporwave and video game osts only" phase I still listened to them pretty frequently. (Are they really that popular? I'm not really into music scenes or anything, but i've only ever met one other person (outside of my family) who even knew about them...)

Not sure why but they seemed to be popular amongst my Mormon friends back in the 90's. Perhaps it was their quirkiness I'm not really sure why anybody really likes them. I had a roommate that would listen to them all the time so I got tired of their music real quick.

I liked the Birdhouse In Your Soul song when I was a kid.

Dey Might B Kangz ('N Sheit) #HollaHolla

Aka what Gen Xers with undiagnosed autism listened to. The 'le quirky eggsdee' people of their time - or like 90 percent of Homestar Runner fans.

Their songs that showed up sporadically on TV shows were fun, but then I downloaded their albums and they're just kind of shit. Everyone knows them, but I have never ever met a single person who eagerly considered themselves an actual fan of They Might Be Giants.

It's like they perfectly straddle the line between being a proper band and a production music company.

Unfortunately, troonguarding:
