I don't know anyone outside of weird automotive enthusiast that know ( never-mind know how to work on ) a carburetor. The idea of trying to start the car too much is just something they cant comprehend.
Even most weekend shadetree mechanics will shudder at a Quadrajet. Calling them a "quadrajunk" or something else half-assed, all because they're working with a 40+year old unit with over 150k miles on it, and don't understand why and how it works. When truth be told, once they're understood and a few simple things are tweaked, they're more reliable, more tunable, and more adaptable than any other carb in common use. There's a reason that GM put them on millions of vehicles for over 25 years.
Car magazines are pretty sexy too, and informative. I think it's strange to the modern generation to wait for information like how to work on a carburetor, or get pictures you can't zoom in on. I've always liked magazines for the fact that the articles are written by actual people and not some rando on the internet. You can do research on them, get to know them through their articles, and decide if they're bunk or not
There's just something about holding something TANGIBLE in your hands. Whether its a book, CD, magazine, VHS cassette, record, etc. It's more substantial than downloading and looking at it on your phone. Not to mention that physical media is yours, and some Jew isn't going to take it away from you after you bought it just because they didn't pay another Jew for "license rights" that expired. It really hasn't been that long, 15-20 years at most? where most physical forms of media have been supplanted by digital, and while the convenience and ease of access is nice, I don't want to be at the mercy of some faggot who decides that what I have is "pRoBlEmAtIc" and deletes it from the world.

Same with thermo quad or a cobra jet. Just need some old school knowledge.

On this, I'm hearing news articles calling Blu Ray and DVD the new Vinal. Nigga what? They're still selling new blu ray releases! It's like give me a break. I bought your movie to always watch it, not so you can get more greedy and put it on streaming where licenses can expire

I agree with you completely, but I also love being able to get a book instantly, I don't have to leave the house, wait to have it ordered if it's not in stock, just point, click, and it's mine.
I will get focused on one subject, and must have every book about that subject, and must have it NOW.

Mr. Cheese has brought up the same points you have, but dammit, I can't help myself.

You make me feel young and old at the same time. I admire that.

I watched a staple of my childhood with my wife last night: Jackass the movie.

I was 10 when it dropped ('02), and 6-8 when the show was on TV. I loved everything they put out and idolized those dipshits. I still want to go to Tokyo and hide under a giant cone like wee man did. (But now I can't because of fucking Johnny Somali or whoever)

Then we started watching the second movie and *sigh*

The change in the culture and technology (and the stars of the movie) between '02 and '06 was ridiculously noticable. They were babies then; I'm older than they were now.

I'm sure once we watch the rest of the second movie and then the third tonight I'll be even more bummed out.

I still remember going to see Jackass 3D in theaters with friends just after graduating highschool like it was yesterday...

With winter ending by March and spring, you've got only two-three weeks left. No wonder you think so. please don't sting me

------

I'm only finally approaching middle-age, but I've kept in active shape, even my "less active" periods I try hard to keep up with in calisthenics and weight-lifting if I can't run, walk, or other cardio for whatever reason at the moment. It's paid off nicely. I don't FEEL old. I still take on kids in fitness tests, races, etc. up to twenty years my junior still! I still like being able to go out and explore stuff or if I can, actually travel, and so forth. Keeping busy in general helps. So is the fact I've been obsessed with "retro" since very young, so seeing nostalgic reminders of my youth is just such a thing for me for so long it doesn't strike the same. I've been like that since a single-digits kid finding the 80s I was born in fascinating.

No, the only thing that makes me feel older and thus sadder is seeing my family get older in turn. I already feel wistful and sad seeing photos of my passed-away cats and dogs. But to see my mother and other relatives, and my current beloved cat and the other family pets, continue to get older, slower, more tired as I (seemingly!) keep on truckin' with energy like I have been since a boy (and I KNOW I'm in far better shape at this age than all my relatives were at the same point in their lives much less now) just strikes me hard. This all the more so since not only do I plan to keep as fit as I can to where I reach something approaching a wizened grizzled martial arts master from kung-fu movies, I have always had an odd feeling God or The Fates or whatever have "fated" me into super-fitness and a very long lifespan even if I wasn't bothering to be as good physically as I can be.

And as someone who clings and loves too hard to the people he DOES have in his life, that longevity sometimes feels like it'll be a curse than a blessing. Because when my family and friends pass and I am still around, but now only by myself... it's not something I enjoy dwelling on.

I still remember Jetix. I still remember the old Criterion Games logo. I still remember the tradition of watching Home Alone 1 & 2 on TV every Christmas. I still remember that time I torrented Terraria and tried to fight the Wall of Flesh, only to realise that I was on version 1.0.6 and not 1.1. I still remember watching every Madness Combat episode and thinking it was the coolest shit ever (it still is). I still remember being a fucking babby that was awful at videogames and needed to use cheat codes to have any kind of fun. I still remember a time before the Trump election where I could casually talk to people from all the corners of the world without any of us bringing up some stupid political bullshit.
Where did it all go?

The way people even just a few years younger than me are about gender ideology. I remember when you could call a faggot in a dress a faggot in a dress and anyone who called them a woman was thought to be retarded or insane. Now they positively chimp out if you say anything remotely critical of trannies. Unfortunately, I have lots of young family on the troon train, vehemently insisting on enabling pedophiles and mutilating children. The youth has gone astray, doesn't even know the difference between men and women, and it makes me feel even older than I am that I can't talk sense into them.

Looking at zoomers talking through mobile phones.
Why are they hodling them horizontally, screen up, away from face.
Why.
Really late to this, sorry. It's the influence of reality tv where the audience must hear both sides of any given conversation, not sure why that morphed into a belief that the rest of us need to join in other people's phone calls.

Megadeth's comeback album, which ended their cringeworthy attempt to chase radio hits and reestablished them as a premier thrash metal band, The System Has Failed, came out 20 years ago this September.

Less things and more attitudes. Even the irony and cynicism of Gen X burnouts is more wholesome than everything drenched in triple reverse irony or globohomo-approved positivity that is first and foremost designed to advance a narrative. You could argue it’s always been this way but they were a lot better at being subversive 25 years ago.
