If anything, both the covid lockdowns and the aggressive promotion of troon pseudoscience were the last straw for many people.

Something else that troons saved is healthy skepticism of the mainstream scientific community. As much as leftists, liberals, and even moderates profess to hate things like fascism or religious fundamentalism, they never stop to think what exactly it is that makes fundie-tier religion or far-right authoritarianism so attractive. Alright, yes, I should add, it was also that the elite insisted on cramming their degeneracy down the pleb's throats even as the cost of living increased and fag acceptance was the last thing on the minds of those in survival mode.
