it's happened to us all before: we stumble upon some moronic, braindead troglodyte, a buffoon beset on disagreeing with our correct and verifiably true opinions. we move our mouse over to the 'react' button, the process of readying our next mouseclick like loading a gun. but stop for a second, and consider -- is what you're doing moral?
think about the other person, on the other side of that monitor. don't you think they value those points? that with every post, every carefully selected reply, they're not just gaining reputation but crafting legacy for their kids? Your 'dumb' reaction, your 'mad at the internet' kneejerk mouseclick, it could be another nail in the coffin of an otherwise good man working hard to secure for his children an account with respect & standing in an online community. even worse, for a man already down you could be kicking him for the last time, kicking him clean over the edge. who among us hasn't broken into tears as a post they've written becomes a copypasta used in the community for years into the future? and you want to help make someone feel like that. you want to take away their hard-earned points.
i'd like to leave you with one final statement: those who are negatively reacted to often are 'the persecuted'. why are they persecuted? often for the mere act of telling the truth. you know who else told the truth and was persecuted for it?
think about this before you give any of my posts a negative react in the future. you could be tarnishing legacy and extinguishing life.
