For those of us outside of China, there is little we can do. Something on a federal level, such as banning products from China, could have an impact, but it has more than just the impact we might desire.
In the end, it's basic economics. As long as they are willing to work for so little, it will continue, regardless of who buys the end product. Their pollution issues are once again, something we can try to pressure a change on, but otherwise it's up to them to actually change. Unless you are willing to Annex all of China, the most we can do is discuss things, as individually not buying from China products won't do shit.
Until their people are willing to stand up, to change, to ask to be paid more or fight for freedom or just simply changes, there is nothing to feel guilty for on our end. Buying form them isn't the only reason they have their structure, and even if we give people the choice to not buy from them, nothing short of federal bans from all countries will actually dry them up. Otherwise, they still have someone willing to buy from them, even their own people. It seems we somehow often forget that it's not just cheap for us, but for them as well, which is how they can afford to spend their paltry salary on cheap items.
