This is MY Land - The vidya where you play as a Native American trying to survive, that of course got native americans on twitter pissed.

games such as this is my land getting history wrong really fucks me
AoE 3 Definitive Edition was a massive disappoint for me in this regard. Long story short they brought in a "Cultural Advisor" which turned Clayton Black's campaign from decent story about being torn between two lives that ended in Little Big Horn to "White man endless greed, we did nothing wrong, we too noble." They even changed the Iroquois to Haudashawnee, even though Iroquois was a name given to them by the French that they still use to this day.

The people look as mutt as you might expect, the fact DE also has crashes and technical bugs 8 months from launch means they remade it the same way with AoE 1 and then just abandoned it.

Are Native Americans being offended by this or is it just White people being offended for them?

Depends on whether you believe the Twitter whiners are legitimate Indians like they say they are, or that they're "Indians" in the sense that their great-grandfather said he was 1/50th Cherokee.

Either way, the moral to be learned from this is don't listen to Twitter. If you make a game in response to representation whining, they'll just say you didn't do it properly and the Ouroboros cycle will start over.

Native tribes in the Southwestern part of what is now the USA made alcohol. I'm sure other tribes indulged in it on occasion. If there's fruit available, there's someone chasing the buzz they got from too ripe berries.
This game has been available for years. Why are people just now getting pissy?
Wait till they find out about Unreal World.

Didn't know Native americans don't like being called native americans, I'm just gonna call them red niggers from now on, anyway game looks okay-ish (at least from skimming the video)

Fuck wagon-burners. It’s their fault for being on the White Man’s land before we got there.

The one mistake of the Greatest American President Evar, Andrew Jackson, is that the Trail of Tears didn’t end with drowning prairie niggers in the Pacific Ocean.

But credit where credit is due—Jackson solved the injun problem so hard that decades later, people forgot there ever was a problem and started crying over the “noble savage.”

I still don't see exactly what is wrong with this game where is the misrepresentation they are talking about? Does it even exist?

For example, the Cherokee were one of the first native tribes on the east coast the British encountered, they had friendly relations and even scouted and skirmished for the British in war of Independence. With the loss of their British Allies, they had to contest against the revolutionaries that became their new trading partners and as a result, got disfavored when reservations were drawn up.

Playing AoE3 kind of ignited a love for the old days of America and how it shaped the nation. Love reading about how natives adapted to the changing environment.

Jokes on the SJWs, most Indians were pro-Confederacy. The last confederate general to surrender was a Cherokee.

So they are pleading cultural appropriation?
I suppose that would be the term, though all the bitching I saw was centered around how incredibly clueless they were about native culture, so if they're appropriating anything it's 1950s westerns. They definitely could have saved themselves some trouble by hiring a 'consultant' to argue on Twitter for them, though.

I like the concept of the game; I'll probably play it if it turns out decent. Primitive cultures don't really get explored that much in video games, so it's always neat when someone gives an earnest go at it.

Seeing the actual faggot casino Indians was a big disappointment for me as someone who only knew them from the works of Karl May.
And their board members tend to be whiter than a snowflake too -- and I suspect Jewish given how curly some of their hair is. They had a line of paintings for them at a casino I went to and I kept going, "This guy is whiter than I am. This guy is whiter than I am. This woman is whiter than I am." and it was honestly ridiculous.

But to be fair you're probably better off being disappointed with casino Indians than the reservation kind. They're degenerates of the highest order from near as I can tell. Knew a guy who went off the reservation and became a mechanic; always kept talking shit about his tribe being worthless, barely in touch with their history and just drinking all the time. Treat their dogs like shit too. Plus he actually looked like an Indian unlike the board members at the casino.

Basically what I'm trying to say is: Twitter a dumb, the Indians of the past are long since dead and their people subverted. Deal with it.

The game is pretty fun ive got about 25 hours on it, it can be pretty fun dunking on whitey from settlement to settlement and sprinkling them with my magic spooky powder

then when they have enough of my bullshit try to build a massive fucking fort

I think it looks really cool. I've been wanting a game like this ever since RDR2 showed that this concept could be really interesting.

I guess I can kind of see how the game could be offensive in a "you're monetizing and making a game out of my people's and culture's genocide" kind of way, but by that logic, every single WWII game ever should be banned, too, and we all know that's not gonna happen.

Look, I'm not gonna pretend that the Natives weren't given one of the rawest deals in history, or that they were all peace-loving hippies, but what's done is done, and one game is not going to change that.

It sucks, and my heart truly does go out to all millions of Natives that were killed and displaced, and I really do wish things had happened differently, but we can't make things go back to the way they were without literally plunging the entire world into chaos. Somethings just can't be fixed.

If anything, maybe the devs could give some of the profits to a reservation, or something, but I don't think they should be forced to. They should be allowed to make their game however they want, and do whatever they want with the proceeds.

Besides, if actually does turn out to suck, then we can at least still make fun of it, and joke about how Eagle Flies and Pocahontas didn't die for this, and shit.

depends where you go or who you talk to, some of them consider "Indian" the equivalent of "Negro," while others interpret it as part of their identity.

like Alaskan natives self identify as "Eskimo," while Nunavut/Canadian Eskimos consider "Eskimo" a slur and prefer "Inuit."

you can't really go wrong with just calling them "Natives" in my opinion
Only faggots from Canada or on twitter get pissy over Indian. We're Indians, not Native Americans. Technically we're our tribe, but nice try FBI you're not getting that one out of me.

Game looks gay, but as you can see it's "natives" on twitter doing the chimping out. Just ignore them and consoom your digital toy.
