It's genuinely more and more surreal every single time I watch it. The first act of faking the pushups in the first place is a huge, tangible, example of how fragile his "manhood is" Then he limply tries to convince people, drives it up a little more by pretending to wipe his face etc, and then just completely fucking snaps. He's forced to mentally reckon with not only the reality that there's no way he can do 25 pushups and the fact that nobody else believes he can either. It's really interesting to see just how fucking mad he was that someone didn't send him 200 dollars for what he knows is a lie. Phil could just be a really good actor and playing up the anger but I fucking doubt it

This is what happens when someone has a conscience, but also a whole salad bar of issues that prevent said conscience from accomplishing what it's supposed to. Phil has, on numerous occasions, demonstrated awareness that what he said or did, or is about to say or do, is going to be considered wrong by others. It doesn't stop him because he doesn't feel bad about the act, he only cares if there's backlash. Which doesn't even make him feel bad, it makes him feel anger, because he's such a narcissistic misanthrope that backlash is utterly offensive to him. How dare these people scare him into backing off his latest grift! He needed those pity tips for Champions! His issues are important, not them!

Honestly, the only thing keeping Phil relatively contained is that he's also such a coward. It doesn't just keep hm from going anywhere, it prevents him from pulling anything scummier than revealing a cat for two grand or lying about where his money goes. If he didn't care about some fantasy image, that would be the least he had on his rap sheet.

Phil always thinks he's the smartest guy in the room which leads him to attempt his mini scams. He assumes that since a few retards buy his lies (though it would be more accurate to say that they simply do not give a shit) that he can pull the wool over everyone's eyes.

Something else to note is just how little thought he actually puts into things. The fact he didn't immediately know to act like he'd put effort in is shocking and it's like the longer he takes to think, the worse his thought will be.

I was watching lately montage of his biggest failures in 2021 and by watching it I came to assumption that he is at least somewhat "mentally challenged" and below average IQ level. He "officially" earns middle class year salary and yet he combusts himself in serious bankruptcy filing and spends significant amount of money on worthless WWE mobile game. Yet, every time he has opportunity to talk about his budget condition, he constantly raises he is out of cash and need money for plumber or something significant but despite severe problems surrounding his persona he still finds reserves for booze and microtransaction on mobile games.

For example, his shower valve incident. According to his statement Kat couldn't turn off the water under the shower. There is always a main valve in the house to cut off the water in whole segment so in such case you can easily replace busted valve for new one. This isn't rocket science and if someone without school can handle flow of water inside pipes, a guy with degree in business that prowls about his intelligence should easily do that singlehandedly.

I think he is narcissistic sociopath that views other human beings (i.e. viewers) as morons and everything that happens to him is beyond his capabilities. It is never his fault nor misunderstandings of facts that grown human being should be aware of in his late 30's. If there is wrongdoer, it's not him - it is always someone else. When his video was used on GDC he couldn't stop whining that the footage is copyrighted, and end-user should ask him for permission for fair-use, but when people are doing the same thing with TIHYDP montages he could easily monetize it by doing montages himself or sell a "loicence" for it to someone else.
He has a degree in business and has no clue how to earn on detractors?!

It seems that he never reads ToS on websites he currently streams on and publish videos. Like when he was banned from Twitch and they referred to specific article in ToS he started blathering that they didn't point him where he violated the terms, nor any violation have taken place. As a streamer who runs a business his role is to read all terms and conditions, contracts and any other document involving him and his business to avoid misunderstanding and mishaps because in case of dispute with service provider it will hurt his business and in the end his budget.

We all had a day long slapfight about Phils intelligence in the main thread a while back, but I'm also firmly in the camp that says that Phil is below average IQ.

Keep in mind that he went to Sports High, and, since he lived at home until his face reveal video on YT, it's fair to say he had help from his parents for both high school and college. Linda did his laundry for him when he was fucking 26, so I don't see why not. Ever since then, he has been fucking everything up.

I'm wondering where this trauma came from that he is super paranoid of anything. This fits more the psychology thread but there is something seriously rooted in that mind of his that goes well beyond the trolls will come for him dood!

There is no reason he wouldn't live in a gated community and have extreme agoraphobia to the point he thinks he will get robbed going into Walmart. Maybe he did grow up in a high crime area, although I seriously doubt it, maybe he is just your average New England 'nice guy' who is an asshole to everyone and thinks anyone slightly different from them is a criminal drug addict ready to stab them.

I don't think anything in particular traumatized Phil, I think he just simply never developed a spine, just like he never grew anything else associated with being mature. Like having tact, patience, the ability to take a joke at one's expense, the list just goes on forever. I'm not kidding when I call him a toddler in a grumpy old man's body, he literally does have the personality of a child less than five years of age. With that comes cowardice, and his is on level with that of such a child. I really wouldn't be surprised if he went to bed with a night-light to this day.

Speaking of which, I'm calling bullshit on him being on a "cocktail of meds". I'm two years younger than him, and let me tell you, our generation is too old for that to be likely. It just wasn't a thing in those days, not quite yet. For him to be so far outside the norm that Ritalin and a bunch of other shit was supposedly necessary, he would've been taking the short bus to school, not put on meds. It would be awhile before normal-ass students (mostly boys, which tells you something) were starting to be seen as candidates for medication so they could do okay in school. I don't think he wants to monetise detractors and TIHYDP, he wants them gone forever. He blames them for everything bad that has ever happened to him, including directly blaming TIHYDP makers for his "swatting". He doesn't want anyone pointing out how much he fucks up and how stupid and lazy he is. It's why the GDC thing upset him, it actively presented him as the braindead idiots that games get developed for. Plus everyone knows that his viewers are all kinds of fucked up.

Yeah, he really wants it to be taken as him being above this stuff, but because he's no smarter or more knowledgeable than when he accidentally gave away that he's a little boy inside, he ends up just being that again, in an even worse way. You know how growing up you are supposed to get used to pain and scrapes and bruises, and a lot of people just don't learn that nowadays. You know how growing up you are supposed to get used to pain and scrapes and bruises, and a lot of people just don't learn that nowadays. Well, that and his laziness. There's a reason he switched from the crazy MvC2 scene to Super Turbo, and it wasn't from acknowledging that he couldn't hack it.

But yes, he failed to grow that too. Not from being coddled, those days weren't the helicopter parent days, that came after our era. He just didn't want to do anything that involved other kids or exerting any effort, and as a result, he never went through the associated trials and tribulations. Nor does he want to now, because his laziness and misanthropy haven't changed, and on top of that, now he has an audience who can't wait to watch him go through pain.

Never forget his quote: "They want to see me suffer. I just want to have a good time." That was in response to his chat asking for the difficulty setting to not be on boring-ass baby mode.
