Not too bad, bit too popsy and radio-centric in my opinion but there are certainly quite a few absolute bangers made by AC/DC.
 
They're like Rush (but less gay). They made 1 song, copied it a dozen times to make an album, and spent the next 3+ decades copying the album over and over.
 
They'll provide some good music videos when JoJo part 7 releases. Specifically for the US President.

I don't really get this argument, considering how so many people say it.

Let There Be Rock sounds nothing like Shoot To Thrill, and Thunderstruck sounds nothing like Stiff Upper Lip.

But eh maybe I'm looking too deep into it.

Their best stuff was with Bon, but Back in Black, Fly On The Wall and Flick of the Switch were still decent albums. They only started going really downhill in the late 80s, from Thundestruck onwards.
 
like others are saying, their earlier stuff I love. Their stuff after the 70s is whatever. Angus is an inspiring guitarist. I've heard they came up with the name AC/DC due to part of a chord progression on a song (high voltage?).

I thought the folklore goes the Young brothers saw "AC/DC" on a vacuum cleaner or their sisters sewing machine?

Very inspirational and iconic but very repetitive.
 
Brian Johnson's reputation is salvaged by Malcom & Angus delivering their best riffs on his first two records. In all other context Bon Scott blows him out of the water as a vocalist and it's a crime we didn't get his version of Back in Black.

I'd argue that Back in Black wouldn't have had as much impact with Bon up front. It's symbolic of how AC/DC was able to endure the loss of its frontman; a frontman who is still one of the greatest and most charismatic of all time.

It also helps that Bon was a fan of Brian, and that Brian is such a class act. He refuses to sing It's a Long Way to the Top out of respect for Bon, as it was Bon's signature song. I don't think it's necessarily a case of Bon vs Brian. They're both AC/DC legends.

If you really want to know what AC/DC sounds like with a shitty vocalist, listen to their earliest stuff when Dave Evans was up front.


Bon rerecorded this same track a couple of years later.


The sad part is that Evans still boasts about being the original lead singer of AC/DC (in fact that's been his grift for the past 40 years) and gets pretty salty when people on social media tell him to pack it in. Probably not a full-blown lolcow, but he definitely has cow-like tendencies.

The version I heard is that one of the Young brothers saw "AC/DC" printed on the front of a cassette recorder that their sister had just bought around the time they were starting their band. This story seems the most plausible, as early '70s cassette recorders looked like this:

AC/DC is great music for getting drunk and fucking fat chicks. Not like gross sloppy fat, but chubby enough that you probably wouldn’t be proud, and you wouldn’t want your friends to catch you driving around with her in your Camaro, but you also wouldn’t be that worried about it in the moment. We’re talking a fat chick that maybe cleans up well, but needs to be really strategic with yoga pants.
 
Was introduced to it as a teenager and had CD's ripped for me containing their songs. Had to endure their blaring music in the Weightlifting Club Gym since the teacher assigned the class to do some math work.
Like their music, but have not listened past some songs ripped from "Back to Black" album - mixed feelings overall.
