What's the point in assisted suicide when you only need 3lbs of pressure to pull the trigger?

I think people can have free will and less mentally ill people walking among us or breeding equals less bad genes, less violence and cultural degeneration. I do wish the media would stop pushing it onto western women and children and instead encourage it in India, South America, and African countries, to counter their crazy birthrates. Hopeful thinking though.

If someone is in severe pain from a fatal illness I don't see why we should make them suffer on this planet. It seems cruel to me. Now assited suicide for depression I don't really know...
Posted this in 2017 my opinion hasn't really changed. If someone is in severe chronic pain from an illness that can't fully be treated by modern pain medicine I do not think someone should be forced to suffer for years in that horrific pain. That is cruel. With chronic depression I don't know. There are so many different medication and therapies I think giving assisted suicide to a depressed person is moraly questionable to say the least.

In certain cases I’m okay with it. Terminally ill and have been given an approximation of how much longer you have left to live? I could understand wanting to end it without having to live out your final days in near-constant pain and discomfort. Same with things like dementia. To me there’s no worse hell than seeing someone you love get slowly erased little by little until they’re just a vacated husk of who they once were. I’ve even said to family/friends I plan to take my own life if I ever get diagnosed with dementia in my old age. It’s horrific.

Places like Canada take it too far though. You shouldn’t be able to qualify for assisted suicide because you have a case of the sadbrains one day, or because you lost your job or whatever. Problem with that though is people that are dead set on suicide are going to do it regardless, and it begs the question of whether they can do so through a drug cocktail administered by a medic or blow their brains out with a gun in their home. Delicate situation no matter where your stance is.

Suicide is cool but no assistance. If they really want it make the fuckers earn everlasting peace themselves

I'm fine with it in cases where, for example, a person is in chronic pain, they have no quality of life to speak of, and it will only get worse over time.

Another example where I'd be fine with it would be where someone suffers a severe neck/back injury and is basically left with a life where they have to blow into a pipe to move their wheelchair around. Just because some survivors of those injuries go on to be happy, doesn't mean that all of them will.

Most people who attempt suicide because they're suffering from mental illness and survive regret it and are glad that they lived, so the bar has to be set high if it's going to be legal IMO. It has to be some life-changing condition/injury where there's no hope of a cure.
