Thoughts on Bills passing that makes Doxing Illegal?

I think I have to put it on Articles & News because on Happenings there is a guideline that says “Don’t Plagiarize”. If I put it on Articles & News what tag should I use?

Intent obviously. Giving out someone's address to help plan a party and giving out someone's address in an attempt to instigate a campaign of harassment, cause a swatting incident or other illegal activities are two completely and clearly legally distinct things. "Doxing" in the common online definition is most definitely illegal as it is attempting to cause someone harm.
 
There's nothing wrong with doxing. If you don't want to be doxed don't put your info out there.

Doxing can be used for good. It enabled the exposure of the baby monkey torture rings on this site.

So what do they think will happen when someone charged with doxxing brings up the existence of phone books, public property records and voter rolls? Pretty confident Nevadans can just ignore that law outright.

The problem is what happens when companies sell your data to data aggregators who then sell it to yellow pages and other phone book websites. If anything selling customer data should be illegal
 
You know In my opinion I kind of want places like whitepages and doxing to be illegal. Because it takes away peoples reasoning to bitch about the forum. But at the same time we can't dox pedophiles and zoophiles anymore. :(
