Thoughts on the Bible after Going the Wrong Way

Even if you don't believe in the existence of the supernatural or in Yahweh, the Bible can be interesting, especially if you look at what theologians, philosophers, and Biblical scholars have said of it. The problem is that discussions on Christianity and the Bible in the U.S. have been dominated by evangelicals who have a less than intellectual view of the Bible and often reduce it to some of its most trivial aspects.

where does it say we are supposed to act like him?
In the bible, doesn't specifically say to live and act like him but to embody the values he had. Like I said, Christian but not exactly Christ-like.

im asking you where it says this. my personal bible is 5000 pages or so. i havent memorized the whole thing of course....but i am somewhat certain if there was a passage about jesus saying "Be like me" i would remember it. i do remember a coupel passages where he mentions that acts and such are not really important at all...

but thinking now, i think this is just some atheist propeganda, eh? not judging you, just saying the "bible tells people how to behave" and all this is a common atheist misconception

you sound like someone who is incapable of telling intellectual from non-intellectual tho

yuor opinion sounds like something that was picked up on 4chan when you were 16 and not based on any actual interaction with the bible or a christian or even the concepts of critical thinking

The crux of this issue is those with the most to teach in matters of the heart often don't count bandying words as a useful skill to have.

Read Proverbs.
I prefer Sirach, Ecclesiastes and Job. Proverbs is probably my least favourite of the wisdom literature. Is it just the most famous for it’s name?
What if your son is named Isaac?
If my son was named Isaac, I wouldn’t kill him because the Bible quite clearly states that human sacrifice is against God’s will. If you experienced a vision of God asking you to sacrifice your son, that would be satan.
