Thoughts on these age verification bills for sites "Harmful to minors"

While I agree with freedom of expression even for things one personally doesn't like, given how long they've had specific laws as a trump card ot shut up or arrest any goy who questions historical accounts of absolutely comical claims of lampshades and bars of soap that have long been disproven, I don't really mind this :/

I am really glad the EFF exists I really do, same with the big tech lobby "Netchoice" as they are fighting these laws

Oh yeah, that's the sperg who would go through drive-throughs and as a joke give the employees a literal virginity card "as payment".

not to use this thread as a soapbox but like, I kind of feel like there needs to be a more honest and open discussion about the anti-porn movement, because I fear anti-porn people have gone completely insane, and with the policies and things they wanna push I fear it will the death of anonymity and free-speech online as what they are proposing is downright Orwellian and will lead us down a surveillance state.

I am not saying you have to support sex work or the porn industry or be on board the LGBTQ+, but I just will like to note that porn has always been used as the canary in the coal mine when it comes to censorship and I fear that if we don't talk about it, I fear there gonna get their way and its gonna come for all of us. like, look at what's happening to payment processors and these AVS digital ID laws, politicians and corporations are not gonna stop at porn, there gonna keep censoring things they don't like, even if you are anti-porn there will have to admit that this is getting a bit much.

(I am just gonna say digital ID as that's what most of these laws are)
I will say I wonder if there are any Ulterior motives for some of these Digital ID laws, like for France, right now France and the UK are in deep political instability and trust for these governments is at an all-time low (France is going through some pretty extreme riots right now) and don't get me started with the UK and its disastrous online safety bill. USA right now in some states, there is a transgender-moral panic in some of these states they are known to target certain minority groups, and as the EFF said

"There are tens of millions of U.S. residents without a form of government-issued identification. They could also be kept offline if age verification is required. These are primarily lower-income people who are often already marginalized, and for whom the internet may be a critical part of life. " which makes me wonder if this is an attempt at trying to get rid of certain people off the internet.

I don't how this is gonna come across, but I am just looking at the facts and just trying to say how I see them. you are free to disagree with me but I hope you consider the facts I present here

looks like a pro-russian group is working on creating fake pornhub/porn websites to steal personal doccuments

you know what, I'll take to bring to light the group responsible for the mandates for these systems
Exoduscry is the shady (totally not religious) anti-porn group that brought you that whole "trafficking hub" hysteria from a few years ago. they are a self-proclaimed "anti-trafficking organization" that doesn't really do anything to stop human trafficking while stealing donations for themselves

the founder Laila Mickelwait has been known to post child porn

I might make a thread of these groups, they have a lot of funny stories and skeletons in their closet like one "Anti-trafficking" organization that used the money to buy prostitutes in Thailand

The only rights you have are the rights you can actually defend. The government lulls you into a sense of security and says you totally don't need your tools to defend yourself as "we'll defend you". They can then force their ideals upon you as you no longer have the tools to defend your rights.

Digital ID is a horrible thing that unfortunately due to most of the population being unable to rub 2 brain cells together and spark the fire that is critical thinking. We're going to have dumb people allow protect the chillin's as a way to trojan horse in a mass surveillance tool. This just builds the groundwork for them to have it evolve and soon it'll come for our pepe's and memes because it's "hurtful" to easily offended snowflakes.

Obviously if you have nothing to hide being under surveillance isn't an issue until they decide to usher in "Show me the man and I'll show you the crime" when that time comes I hope the morons who enabled this get eaten by the beast they created first.

Just a thought, would it be possible to create a script or extension that could just completely bypass these systems sort of like an adblocker or a captcha bypasser, webscraper? from what I have seen most of these systems tend to use a peer-to-peer system where either an AI or a live human gives the okay and verifies you and I wonder if it's possible to find a way to find the script that gives the okay?

because this isn't really a login screen or a purchase screen, this would be a script that could just give people a way to access a webpage.

Do you have trouble getting into shady porn sites right now? Just use a VPN.

let's say out of the blue there is this random tech company (probably Tencent or some other tech company owned by the Chinese government) that releases the cheapest and most accessible age verification software ever. [...] the Chinese government lies and starts to collect user data (passports, driver's licenses, phone numbers. you name it they probably would have collected it) and then they get a hold of something really valuable

"Hey dear Senator X, we saw you were watching tentacle porn. We think you were not searching for it to show it to your family to prove that it exists, if you don't do this thing, we will leak this information"

The irony of having to double post myself -

What do people think about stronger checks about the uploaders?

I am broadly anti-porn, and my main concern is more about those in the material rather than the effects on the consumers.

What do people think about stronger checks about the uploaders?
I mean they already have strong checks for most major places (require ID, facial scanning, etc), only fans, pornhub. if I am going, to be honest, what is happening isn't a porn website problem but an internet problem as Facebook, youtube have a really bad sex-trafficking/CP problem they don't even allow porn, if I am going, to be honest, it would be an impossible task as there is always gonna be another website and the fact that we made those issues worse with the law SESTA/FOSTA a law MENT TO STOP THESE THINGS but only made them worse. funnily enough, if you like more information on this topic, Netflix released a new documentary about this subject, and if want more a Twitter thread from someone in the documentary on what they left out

For me I am Pro-porn/sexwork as porn is still speech and sex work should be an option for those who wanna do it, and I am a free speech absolutist, I am a libertarian I feel like if people wanna do porn they should have the choice to do porn a lot of people don't want to admit that but there are a lot of people just would rather fuck and have sex for a living then work an office job or work at MacDonald's and that is fine, there is nothing wrong with consenting adults wanting to film or take pictures of themselves having sex, and if people wanna consume it their choice, sexual speech is still freedom of speech. and I am not saying all Anti-porn people are bad, people are allowed to not like porn it's your freedom of speech to say so, but keep in mind there are a lot of people who don't like that these things are not in the shadows and will do anything in their power to try and get rid of it even at the cost of our basic human right to privacy, and when I mean anti-porn people I mean the types like NCOSE (formally morality in media) that want these digital ID systems or things like the EARNIT act, Porn has always been used as the canary in the coal mine when it comes to wider censorship and that's why I oppose Anti-porn people as once they get what they want they will go after everything else
