Clarksville has been officially declared an EF3, not an EF2 according to NWS Nashville.
It looks like the magic number for total tornados in Tennessee last night might be 13, with an additional 7 in Mississippi, 4 in Kentucky, 3 in Alabama, and one in Florida. I'll attach the CSV just for the sake of completion, but NOAA isn't going to dfe like a cow so for easier reading if you're interested, here is the official report page with map.
Back in 2020 I survived the Iowa Derecho. I was driving around with my family after grabbing some sandwiches. They were saying on the radio and TV that it was just a common thunderstorm. Well turns out God had a sense of fucking humor that day. All of sudden straight-line winds hit and everything not made of metal is dropping. Trees, signs, and powerlines. We managed to dodge anything heavy and park between two buildings. After about 15 to 20 mins of Wizard of Oz level of shit storm it had passed, however the chaos was far from over. When the storm hit, we were only 2 miles from home. It took us 4 hours to cover that distance. Me, My Family, and every other poor fuck who happened to be driving at the time. After finally getting home. It took another 2 hours just to leave the area. we stayed at my in-law's place for 9 days before they could restore the power. I am thankful for my family and I's safety. Too bad others were not so lucky.
Necrobump, but today is the 15th anniversary of the 2011 El Reno-Piedmont EF5. On the topic of EF5 tornadoes, since the last post was made, the EF5 drought ended when the Enderlin tornado was upgraded from an EF3 to a EF5. Also a tornado warning was issued for Soddy-Daisy, Middle Valley, and Fairmount (all three are in Tennessee as indicated in the screenshot).
As of writing this edit, it seems to still be continuing, now with Lakesite in the warning.
Following into the morning, there's now tornado warnings for Florida and Georgia.
Also, it's the 18th anniversary of the 2008 Parkersburg tornado now. Absolutely horrific tornado.
Once upon a time in Northern Texas, me and a mate drove through a tiny town at night that had tornado warning siren blaring. Barely managed to slip through a flooded cross street and continued on a pitch-black 2 way road heading north, right towards the amazing lightning show that was ahead. Scenery and feeling like nothing else.
