Being exposed to tiktok zoomer rot video essays on teens faking an array of medical conditions I was reminded that I've more or less had physical tics my entire life, always being told it was OCD. Ethan Klein of all people randomly brought up his wacky facial expressions actually being tourettes which made me read a bit into it, whereas I like other people only correlated it with yelling out slurs. For the first time in my life I actually googled it and obviously it's what he said it was: Tourettes.

The tics aren't exactly compulsive as I got some manner of control over them at expense of discomfort, and while I've always been ashamed of them to some degree, I've met people who had it way, way worse, but simply just chose not to hide the tics. One dude squirmed his face like Ethan during conversation and people didn't once in those 3 years ever mention it. I've had episodes of doing weird straining in my throat which physically made me ill and exhausted, so sometimes it's more than just being minor annoyances, yet not enough to control my life.

"These feelings are known as premonitory sensations. Premonitory sensations are only relieved after the tic has been carried out. Examples of premonitory sensations include:
  • a burning feeling in the eyes before blinking
  • a dry or sore throat before grunting
  • an itchy joint or muscle before jerking"
I guess being diagnosed would be nice but it's not like there's treatment for this insevere a case. They become the most severe during stress or anxiety which is actually kinda useful since I can tell if I'm actually stressed or not, but sometimes the stress stems entirely from trying to avoid the tics themselves. I've read that the actual cause of humans tiring out is making a lot of decisions throughout the day, and I basically make one every time I try to avoid a tic.

Anyway: "1 in 162 children have TS and boys are three times as likely. 4 of 5 also have another disorder of which 50-60% suffer from ADHD or anxiety". Are you one of His chosen or have experiences with any? It didn't exactly affect my life but would've been nice being told it was a condition I may or may not grow out of, rather than the boomer approach of saying kids with ADHD are just "being kids".

How come people with Tourettes seem to always specifically use vulgar phrases? That always made it seem super fake.

"Haha yeah I have a condition where I have to scream "I'll rape your mom" out loud in public at random, sorry. :)"
That'a what usually gets depicted in the media because it's more interesting, but IRL it's often just stuff like making a meaningless verbal noise.

That's called copralalia. It's a pretty rare thing in real life. Most common tics are things like involuntary movements, clearing your throat, and making weird noises.

You could try looking up NAC. There are varying reports from people, and some studies claim there are really demonstrable effects in obsessive thoughts, tics, compulsive behaviors (skin/hair picking), autistic aggression, even substance abuse disorders, then some others claim there aren't any effects at all and I have no idea what explains the difference. For some reason almost all the studies are on children though.

Still it's probably good for you either way (or at least almost certainly not bad), so you could see if it's of any interest.

Tourettes doesn't exist, it's made up by attention whores to get pity from retards who would otherwise curb stomp some faggot yelling "PUSSYCOCK" at them in public. Now there's even more incentive to do so thanks to DikCok and reality TV

PL, I know, but I'm in a similar boat as you. I've always assumed I had some form of OCD or Tourette's because I feel a strong constant urge to repeat meaningless and inane phrases in my head. It's frankly quite annoying, sometimes as soon as I'm done saying it I feel the need to repeat it again. Thankfully I don't say them out loud, but this constant repetition tires me out, and if I try to stop myself I feel even worse.

I don't want a diagnosis as you're more likely to develop symptoms of a disorder after you've been diagnosed with it, like a sort of placebo effect, but I'd love get rid of it somehow.
