1. ByteDance actually released 2 separate versions of the same app: Douyin for China, and TikTok for the rest of the world (well, the parts that haven't banned it for being "Chinese spyware"). Now, the former is not available on Western app stores, and IDK what the precise threshold for being "banned", but if you really like, you can still download the former from their website if you're not an Appletard, and you can view videos if you know Chinese, but it won't let you sign in or create an account unless you have a Chinese ID card, or a Chinese phone number (which you now need a Chinese ID card to obtain).
