Why would it be solidarity with the chinese and how do you even get to the conclusion that it is some self centered white saviour shit?

The US just banned the social media they use the most for the (at least perceived) reason that it was chinese and it sold your data or some shit, they are angry and see no reason to go to the US social media that also sells your data and is very happy that the ban happened. It's also something new , they already know instagram and facebook and all that and this chinese app has an audience they had no contact with before. All we have so far are the download numbers and that's just a single click with zero effort, it's in the app store, maybe in a month they all give up and go back to other platforms.

And why necessarily a chinese app? I don't think there is any app similar to tiktok that isn't either chinese or american.

Not to monologue, but Kiwis and Bluesky users share one thing mostly in common: they're not the demographic that was on Tiktok, so both are guessing as to what is going on with Xiaohongshu from afar. Trannies on bluesky hear an inkling that they can't post their surgically mutilated dick on an app and become convinced it's a nightmare - while KF enjoys ample amounts of freedom in posting that the general public really couldn't handle.

Quick notes as the middle man in the Xiaohongshu migration for you all:
1. The app is full of Chinese lesbians.
2. I have seen more sex toys for women on that app advertised than anywhere else.

Whether or not this ends up getting enforced, though, is up in the air. Elan explained that the US’s concern around TikTok largely centers on national security, something that will determine the degree of legal action against those who access the site if it gets the ban hammer.

“The main concern is national security. If a few people do it, then are large troves of US consumer data being accessed by the Chinese government? Unlikely. But if there’s a growing base that continues to use it with the VPN, and the government knows about it, and those concerns still bloom, then there could be penalties enforced.

“How this plays out remains to be seen. It depends on the law. It depends on whether it will be acquired, and it depends on who has the authority to enforce the law and how many users try to skirt the law by using a VPN, but certainly the use of a VPN to circumvent the law would potentially render the user to fines and penalties.”

Seems like REDnote / Xiaohongshu is already talking about bifurcating into separate China and non-China platforms (similar to what happened with Douyin vs. TikTok before).



Which is obviously going to hinder the current entertaining unexpected cultural exchange... but result in the Western version literally just being a TikTok 2.0 (or redundant Instagram 2.0).

And then the US will probably get to work on banning that too, for pretty much the same reasons, meaning Western REDnote will get like 6 months to shine before it too expires. And I'm pretty sure once Westoids are segregated from REDnote, China will be a little more proactive and enforce the "you must have a Chinese ID" law more stringently.

But it's kind of too late, of course. I think the US government will try to push this while "deprogramming" thing for Zoomers or something, though idk how successful they'll be.

It's nuts to even discuss Tik Tok and its content as one would the newspaper. If you take a step back you quickly realize there is no initial urge for any human to post themselves online. To think their looks and thoughts are so important they need to be found online forever. That's ignoring early tiktok where "dance challenges" were basically there to make minors shake their asses or otherwise "pretend to be fat and ugly only to pull off their hoodie and they're actually slim and busty". Pedophiles must've fucking feasted during early tik tok, whereas now it's taken over by oversized women shilling their onlyfans with such hilarious gimmicks as "put the camera underneath them and pretend to reach for the top shelf".

Twitter is 99% bots. Tik Tok is 99% porn bait, mafia grifting or women ragebaiting. If you genuinely consume any of these social medias, not even in a Kaczynski mindset anymore, you're beyond saving. If you look at twitter and don't think "this is a waste of time", you're never going to quit it. Ever.

the best "deprogramming" is "altprogramming" like how the soviet union raised the birth rate by flooding their marketing with ads about relationships and having movies all be romcoms and shit like that.

Look at instagram, i'd say the people that know their content can't be shown on another chink site are all heading over to instagram where the comments are 2009 COD level of spicy. i know Insta didn't have that sterrotype until very recently because once Threads failed Zuck decided to let the foot off the break with his other sites.

literally if you just give Zoomers what they want they won't be forced to find it. as Gaben said "piracy is a distribution problem" and its why every person in their 40s currently was pirating music as teenagers, whereas zoomers today just use spotify or applemusic. the second some american company gives them a Tiktok that works as well as the original they'll flock to it. the reason zoomers are playing chinese games and use chinese social media is because the fags over in San Fran can't make good products and are destroying the few ones that are currently good.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden won’t enforce a ban on the social media app TikTok that is set to take effect a day before he leaves office on Monday, a U.S. official said Thursday, leaving its fate in the hands of President-elect Donald Trump.

Congress last year, in a law signed by Biden, required that TikTok’s China-based parent company ByteDance divest the company by Jan. 19, a day before the presidential inauguration. The official said the outgoing administration was leaving the implementation of the law — and the potential enforcement of the ban — to Trump.

Actually a good move by Biden, for reasons brought up in Trump's amicus brief. He could have just done it out of petty spite but made the right choice.
