Artcow Tim Buckley

Buckley, along with most people that have topics about them in this subforum, are not really lolcows. I am not sure whats up with all the Alogging at Buckley, just don't read his lame comic. Sure he's an asshole, but so is most of the internet. Chris didn't become a lolcow because he has a shitty comic and because he's dislikeable.
Buckley's not the most talented of artists or story tellers but started making CAD when webcomics were growing in popularity (early 2000s) and I think what it comes down to is a lot of people in the webcomic community don't think he deserves the popularity he has.

I reckon a lot of the animosity towards Buckley started around a decade ago when Penny-Arcade and CAD were seen as rivals of sorts (Even though Penny-arcade was and is way more popular) which led to console warrior style arguments about which webcomic is best.

I'm a bit surprised that Fuckley would publish a collection of old CAD comics with classics such as Loss contained in them. You'd think he would want to have that removed.

Tim's an opportunistic hipster with faded aspirations, pretty generic in the lulz category. When I first seen his comics on SomethingAwful, he's just full-frugal. Masters the art of Copy/Pasting objects.

This is literally how Buckley makes his comics

Keep in mind he is using a cintiq tablet
The cheapest one of these tablets is roughly 1000 USD

I find him funny mostly because he writes shit like this

Again, I disagree. A miscarriage is definitely not a joke, and I have no intention of making light of it. And it can be a tough and emotional thing for couples to go through, speaking from personal experience. And I know that it's often much harder on the woman than on the man. However, I also know that it doesn't necessarily turn you into a sad, depressed sack of tears for the rest of your life. People can move past it, and heal.

(there's about 600 more pages of this justifying loss.jpg)

What the hell was going theufh Fuckley's mind when he made that
"Here I have this comedy webcomic, you know what this really needs? A miscarriage."

(I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread for what I'm about post or just resurrect this thead. At the end I went with second option.)

Buckley has started a Kickstarter for the purposes of printing all of his old CAD comics (i.e the ones that predate his decision to retcon the series) in three volumes. As can be seen in the Kickstarter page, the project still has 14 days until funding is over and it has not only reached its goal of 150,000 dollars, but also made about 250,000 more (who would pay for this crap?). Buckley in response has added a couple of additional stretch goals, and is currently hoping to reach 500,000 dollars.
Well, you could've put this in my lolcow cartoonists thread, but nobody reads Lolcow General, so I understand why you necro'd this.

At some point in every comedic series, whether it's a TV series, a comic book, or even a newspaper strip, the creator feels the need to have a Very Special Episode, maybe about something in their personal life. And maybe it's that Family Ties episode with Tom Hanks playing a drunken uncle.

But maybe, if the stars are crossed, it's loss.jpg

The comics preceding loss.jpg involved Ethan shooting a rocket powered brick through a wall, humorously implying that the stress of the situation caused Lilah to miscarriage. What fantastic writing!

Ethan is the perfect example of someone trying not to write a Mary Sue writing one anyway. He makes Homer Simpson look like Lisa Simpson, yet he's smart enough to create artificial sentient life on multiple occasions when it isn't even part of a gag. Nobody can stand to be around him for more than a minute without wanting to murder him, yet he's founded his own successful religion. He acts like a horny 12 year old boy from a manga around his sexy neighbor, yet ends up marrying her. Absolutely none of this is done for the purpose of satire.

In what universe does this kind of character arc make sense?

Hey timothy are you using this thread to attention whore?

Because id have a hard time beliving someone could be as apathetic and self lothing as you claim to be. Ok bucky kun?
