While I have no way to subjectively know Pool's politics, and must ultimately take his word for it, his audience seems to be comprised of conservatives, and idiots like me who occasionally like to laugh at him and his beanie. He doesn't address disaffected liberals and those moderates disillusioned with the excesses of identity politics, so much as conservatives. That's partly why I still question if Tim Pool is legitimately left-leaning; his fanbase is anything but and is inherently hostile to any form of leftism. It makes me remember of that old wives tale about a liberal who pretends to be a right-winger on YT and social media because it is much more profitable. If Pool is truly a liberal; he's the perfect definition of that old wives tale; a political huckster.
An even cursory glance of his content and comments supports this contention. Thus, his repeated insistence that he is liberal, even if true, comes across as a bid for credibility.
"You can take me seriously despite my beanie; I'm actually a reasonable liberal and these people I complain about are truly crazy. So crazy I in fact must throw grenades into my own trench!"
