"TimCast dot com" sounds like some dudes personal ego trip. Hell, there's a reason Twitch is no longer called "Justin TV".

I think thats another thing about Tim; you know damn well he'd be fuming if someone he hired ended up bigger and more successful than him. While the Adam situation is debatable we already got a taste of someone reaching some minor success in front of Tim and you know he doesn't want anyone to get close to that again.

But I also doubt that Tim grew up as poor as he likes to say.

Last night his example of "growing up poor" was having to save up to buy Pokemon Red as a kid. That says very little about your parent's wealth and more about if your parents spoiled you or not Tim. I knew some pretty well off kids who's parents hardly bought them anything, meanwhile I knew some lower income kids who still got a video game every now and then. I'm not going to claim Tim was a rich kid but he makes it sound like he was living in some shanty town in Brazil.

My favorite thing about that is he said that while fumbling around for ages about why Con Inc video hosters can’t get someone like SC. When the reasoning is simple. SC makes way to much money by his name alone to ever give all those rights up for a smaller amount of money than he would otherwise make. Instead Tim goes on this rambling train and thought that the guestd and the rest of the panel clearly did not understand and finished the clip off by declaring the show is him.

It was so very bizare.

I grew up somewhat poor and had a gameboy pocket and pokemon blue. It was pretty much the one game I had and didn't have any of the new gen systems, just old ones we got for cheap. It's a very strange metric to use as parents will usually find a way to get their kids something nice even if financial situations aren't great, but maybe his mother was just as much a narcist as he is and thought she didn't want to support a slave technology or some shit like he did with his sister and the slave state. Then he turned around and went to New York for New Years, despite New York being as bad as Chicago.

As for him being homeless, he was homeless the same way I was after I finished high school, in that he was couch surfing. Tons of people do that around that age, as you don't have a lot of responsibilities, it's easy to find people your age who are already living with a bunch of friends in one house so what's another dude crashing on the couch, and it's just a way to figure out what you want to do. Some people get weirded out when you tell them because they never did anything like that, but it's not particularly uncommon and it's not the same as being homeless.

My first issue with Boring's excuse is his claiming all these 'fans' flooded his emails about what Crowder said about them while Crowder never mentioned DW or anyone at all. DW was included in guesses of Fox, OAN, Blaze and so on.

Tim's probably comparing himself to a lot of people who work in the industry - fair, by comparison, he's poor. But there's a few things to bear in mind that escape his characteristically, ah, encompassing analysis. For most people working in journalism, they have some form of college-level schooling; of the 25+ adult population in the US, around 37.9% of people had a four-year degree and somewhere around 48% had a two-year. How many people from the upper half of the income scale didn't go on to get a college degree at all? How many people from the lower half of the income scale went upwards?

Most of the people working in journalism - or twitter "journalism," or youtube "journalism" - are going to be coming from that upper half of the income scale, with their degrees... but there's still a whole other half of the country. The median household income is about 70k (and this figure is somewhat inflated, as 2019 was around 63k - IE, the pandemic reduced the number of low-earning households, probably by making them non-earning). Another way to think of this is that someone growing up in a household that earns 40-70k is statistically unlikely to go to college, but we wouldn't really consider that to be 'poor.' You wouldn't be going hungry or worrying about rent; you'd just have to cut back on luxuries.

Of course, every percentage-point you climb on that income scale correlates with better schooling, more stable familial structures, more access to musical or artistic education when young, etc etc - but the same is true for the inverse. Lots of people from around the middle-income areas seem to forget that even just 30% of people in the country having it rougher than they do ekes out to like, 110M people or something. If you're constantly rubbing shoulders with the upper-half, you get a chip on the shoulder and a misguided perception that you've had it as rough as the bottom-fifth.

Sounds to me like he's leaving out the fact of who these friends of his are (likely people who have good money and connections). To be somewhat fair this whole "believe me I was poor" shit isn't an annoying trait exclusive to Tim. It seems like the vast majority of famous people like to build some rags to riches tail where there isn't one. The thing is the amount of money you have does help you build yourself up, but even being rich as a child doesn't explicitly mean you'll just succeed with no effort at all (unless you're just a pure nepotism case of course). You don't need a complete rags to riches story to say "I worked hard for what I got", but I guess saying "I grew up in a middle class household and now I'm rich" doesn't sounds as impressive when you're telling your life story.

Even if you don't have a career or a family, there's a world of difference between couch surfing as a college aged person and someone in their 30's or above. When you're young and all your friends are in college, no one has any sense of what a normal living condition is like, and it's exaggerated by things like dorm life, so you have a lot of place to crash, and even if you clock out on a park bench, people will just think you're that goofy kid who had too much at a kegger. You do that shit in your 30's and someone is calling the police.

That's what's dumb about Tim, he doesn't get that different people need different life advise. If you're a young guy, sure, go out there and couch surf, try starting something new, whatever. If you're older, you aren't trapped, but you need to stop and work hard, save as much as you can and live off of rice and beans, and then once you have enough savings to take that time off or try a new venture you do it. That, or reduce your work hours just enough that you make enough to survive and spend all your time on a side project or looking for funding to start something. If none of those sound appealing, well maybe you're just better off continuing to work for someone else, but that shouldn't stop you from applying to jobs you might enjoy more.

I watched the Daily Wires segment on this, and if what Jeremy said is true, Tim's an idiot and doomed to fail. He acts like the corporate style of DW is something to laugh at, meanwhile they have tons of successful projects and it's very clear that the contract was very heavily focused on growth and production, but Tim has one show that exploded and everything else has pretty much failed so far outside maybe webcams on chickens. If Crowder tells them they'll get X subscribers but has no idea what his metrics were behind the scenes for Blaze, then how is he getting those numbers? Also, if he's so sure, why is he worried about the terms and not just making the caveats "if you get X within Y time I get all the good stuff promised, if you get X+Z in Y or Y-A, then there's a bonus, but if it's less than that, then there's a penalty." It's not complicated.

I mean his issue seemed to be less about him, he walked away, and more about the fact that smaller creators won’t be able to say and do whatever. You’ll note there are important issues the DW will not cover. Because doing so would risk the money and that’s all they care about.

I’m sure looking at that drafted agreement, even if first draft, had to sting a bit. Because if that’s what the DW is giving their biggist name and draw initially, what are they giving people smaller than him who don’t have the money and the brand to tell them to fuck off.
