Times where the dubbed version is better?

The Speed Grapher dub. Not only is the dub script flat out better, but the English VA's are clearly putting way more effort into the show than the original. Everyone was clearly having a blast and got really into their characters. It also has one of my favorite lines from any show and I wish I could find a clip of it: "Yes, I'll be needing you to get me another car immediately, preferably one that can't be BLOWN UP BY A FUCKING CAMERA!"

In the original japanese script all he says is he wants a new car that can withstand a tank shell or something like that and the delivery is way more muted.

I had a big long post to answer this before I realized it could just as easily be summarized with "Steven Blum yes, Vic Mignonga no."

Funny thing is, this is one of those dubs I didn't like back in the day but now its kinda grown on me.

And some aspects of it have become iconic and things I forever associate with Dragon Ball even if they're not strictly speaking canon. HFIL and "Another Dimension" just for an example.
That is actually stuff from the previous dub known as the Ocean dub, this one was the next just referred to as Funimation dub. Those things are iconic though.

Likewise I always associate "Shadow Realm" with Yu-Gi-Oh even though that's a show where I prefer Japan's, where there is no equivalent concept.
Shadow Realm is amazing and a great example of censorship actually inadvertantly working in a show's favor.

DBZ abridged by Team 4 Star is king. Without it, I never could’ve gotten my wife to watch DBZ.
The old stuff had some hilarious bits (ironically the politically incorrect stuff), but their more recent content is woke retardation.

Vic is a fucking king.

Hardly anyone talks about it in general but yeah, it's one of my favorite shows.

Yeah, somehow the Shadow Realm just makes sense. There's already so much weird and mystical shit in Yu-Gi-Oh to begin with.

I've never seen Speed Grapher myself, partially because my brain keeps auto-correcting to Speed Racer.

Which, speaking of anime where the dub is better...... (though it was actually shocking that the US version isn't that different from the Japanese original... being from the sixties I thought for sure Speed Racer would be altered to hell and back).

Years ago, I was in Italy and saw an episode of Silicon Valley dubbed in Italian (the episode where one of the characters slaps a kid in the street for adderall). That scene was 100% more funny in Italian than in English.

Akira had an English dub where they redid all of the sound effects and background voices as well that was at a high standard. They added in more effects and ambient sounds that the original Japanese version lacked that made a lot of scenes sound lifeless.

Cyber City Oedo 808 had an English dub where they also remade all of the music. The new soundtrack is a vast improvement. And all of the voice acting is very professional. It was only in rare copies though until it finally came to Bluray decades later.

Here in Brazil there was always a culture of dubbing even if it only got REALLY big recently. Ever since the 50s a lot of bad or average movies become perfect through the magic that is the Brazillian dub. Its a shame many are lost now, as a Godzilla fan, it has come to my knowledge that atleast 3 classic Godzilla movies (Raids Again, Mothra vs, King Kong vs.) had their dubs lost and most of the Heisei era and Millenium never really came to Brazil with the exception of GvB, GvKG, GvM, G2000 and GFW; Now take these examples i listed and repeat it a few hundred times, its a shame really, corporations can't be trusted with preserving. (Sorry for sperging so much but i really wanted to talk about it, as a collector and big Godzilla fan it hurts my soul, we can't even watch the Showa era without pirating, and with the sole exception of the first movie, GvKK and GvMegalon)

I don't know if it's better but I've got a soft spot for a lot of the Lupin III dubs. And wish we got more of them.
