You can make your own mummies if you're up for it. Just leave a dead thing on a piece of cardboard in a dry place where the elements, scavengers or bugs can't get to it and after some weeks or months depending on size you'll have yourself a mummy. When I was in Florida, there were lizards and toads everywhere and they'd sometimes got trapped in indoor spaces and die. Only to be found as dried up mummies sometime later.
