It actually seems pretty standard to me for the kind of thing it is.

I seriously doubt it insulates the many corporations and manufacturers involved, because while it correctly captures that anything deep sea related whatsoever carries a non-zero possibility of instantaneous death, it doesn't cover the extremely gross negligence of getting a warning from an engineer that was basically "look you retards if you go down in this you're all going to die" and then just blowing it off, firing the guy, and suing him, because "muh 50 year old white guys."

While there's certainly negligence/stupidity at play in some incidents, this amount of risk is part and parcel of doing anything in the deep ocean. The US has had subs kill plenty of people as well. Pretty much every aspect of making these vehicles are either things so apparently deadly they aren't tried, or they are hard lessons already paid for with the lives of others. That's what is so mystifying about the decisions of the builder.

I think the biggest thing that will fuck a lawsuit is that these "passengers" were technically counted as participating crew members. Generally there's a higher expectation on crew to actually know what they are doing and refrain from retardation. It wouldn't completely shield them from liability but it does raise the question of why this obvious skirting of regulations was perfectly fine pre-incident.

I foresee that doing a lot heavier lifting in a jurisdiction like the Bahamas. Registration of ships and companies there is a big money-maker. Why hinder the market over non-Bahamians outside their own waters? I'm not completely dismissing the possibility of dishonesty/fraud in getting these agreements, but it's something they'd need evidence of.

From what I have heard the Boomer CEO was trying to build DSV's that were comfortable. Apparently rich fags won't pay to be uncomfortable. I have seen these types of vehicles in videos and pictures. They are either spheres or boxes. I saw one where the two guys inside were lay flat on their stomachs because there was no real room to standup. I think they trying to build them smaller because that makes it easier for them to go down that deep and withstand the crushing force.
