Titanic tourist submersible goes missing with search under way

That was my thought. The operators on the support vessel must have been 99.9% sure it had imploded, and didn’t want to own up.

Millions of dollars of search effort and retarded TV drama later.
"So you're going to let a small army of people scour the sea floor for days at a time for liquefied human remains out of embarrassment?"

As for the other four passengers, they did not deserve to die in such a horrible way. But thinking that your money gives you impunity to take a day trip to the bottom of the ocean is pretty fucking stupid.
I went to a lecture once, a double feature, sub divers and ufo hunters. It was around 2004, oil was at $50 and hadn't boomed. And yet a thoroughly looted institution in a thoroughly looted country nevertheless was coughing up some cash to turn plastic cups into thimbles every once in a while. (They'd write on plastic cups with a permanent marker, attach them to the hull, and collect the thimbles with teeny tiny writing on them after the dive).

The 0.0001percenters could've booked a Mir for maximum authenticity. Gone through some basic training and done actual scientific research (reminder: the Soviets sent a cotton spinner with a GED to space on a solo mission). But no, they did no research whatsoever (the guy'd admitted plenty on record he'd been a fuckup, and at least three prospective customers backed out after initially agreeing), and even signed the "lmao death trap" waiver.

I admire people who risk their lives testing aircraft and such. But testing is a job, you have to know what the fuck it is you're testing and why. They weren't testing shit, they were rolling the dice for no reason. Indeed --
There are MANY things to mock, like fags and trannies and mass looting gangstanegroes.
-- they were dumber than trannies rushing into a stink ditch surgery. If I were a billionaire itching to advance humanity's knowledge of carbon fiber material science by going underwater in a currently untested sub, I'd pay for testing. Trannies can only take or leave, they're powerless to improve anything, insurance doesn't pay for that. I would mourn if some normies were offered a free trip and died. But billionaires? It was supposed to be the only trip this year -- why didn't they instead spend two years getting the thing properly certified, if they were going to trust it with their lives?

You could die in a car crash driving to the convenience store. Niggas on the first page are all "why go to a place that has photos of it." Apparently never go on vacation.
Different risks for qualitative (possibly retarded) accomplishments and quantitative cost-cutting. The latter gets idiots killed by design.

Also, "sitting in a can, ogling a mass grave, smelling paki socks" is one of the few things that is improved by emulation. If the vc thought to get them down 10 feet from the surface and lower an rc probe to the bottom, they wouldn't have missed on anything.

Well, fucking James Cameron took 33 trips to the Titanic and didn't have these issues, more than likely because he had actual white middle-aged experts whom he relied on for
Designed in the USSR, built in Finland.

the titanic expert should have looked at that piece of shit and known better.
As a particle physicist who has to write json serializers for a living, I feel for the guy. When you're "the Titanic expert", all your life before and after has been about undersea exploration, and when research institutions decide to explore their gender identities instead of the ocean floor, researchers have to make do with douchebag combinators and their plastic coffins. Imma quote Kamanin here, who was based and awesome
NP Kamanin said:
Gagarin could not help but fly, for him to live meant to fly. The question of whether an astronaut should fly sounds unnatural. It's like asking: should a swimmer swim and a sailor go to sea? Not every pilot can be an astronaut, but an astronaut cannot help but fly.

There couldn't be more of a difference between how Rush talked and Cameron still talks about the technicalities of deep sea exploration. Never would have guessed it's the latter who's made most of his money in Hollywood. Best layman friendly explanation of what likely happened I've heard so far.

If James Cameron's sources are accurate, sounds like the people on board realized the hull was failing and tried to emergency abort. In two parts:

I was also told, and I don't have confirmation on this, that they had... they were on descent, they were a couple hundred meters above the sea floor, and they dropped their weights. Now, the only way for the ship to know that they had dropped their ascent weights, which would be an emergency abort, is if they had called that in - that they were ascending. So I believe now that they had some warning, that they heard some acoustic signature of the hull beginning to delaminate.

They call it delamination when water ingress starts to force the layers of the fibers apart, and theoretically you can hear it. I actually believe they heard it with their ears, not through the sensor system, in the last moments of their lives, and that's quite a horrifying prospect.

Many people have lost their lives at sea. The Moon may be a harsh mistress, but the dead old cold old sea is the worst.

I just hope these people died how they said they did: instantly.

Remember the Kursk?

The nuclear-powered Project 949A Antey (Oscar II class) submarine K-141 Kursk sank in an accident on 12 August 2000 in the Barents Sea. It was taking part in the first major Russian naval exercise for more than 10 years. All 118 personnel on board were killed.

They weren't the first, and they won't be the last.

I'd rather take a chance on going to the Moon than diving down in to these treacherous deep waters.

Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?

That's the thing--for years, the sea has claimed many a man, not caring the circumstances, your wealth, your intelligence, whether you were at war or not, no matter the circumstances.

Becoming another item in Davy Jones' locker is a possible outcome for anybody.

OceanGate vs David & Carole Lochridge court docs filed on 2018-08-15.

David Lochridge is the guy who got sacked in 2018 because he had concerns about safety.
I think the interesting part starts at page 10.

If the submarine imploded during that period of time...

What caused those sounds?

View attachment 5175378
Isn't it obvious what caused the sounds? Crabs that developed a taste for human flesh after eating the crushed human goo that fell to the sea floor after the implosion were trying to lure more humans in submarines that they were going to attack when they got deep enough, by tapping on the wreckage of the titanic and trying to make us think the crew was still alive

Years ago I was an mechanical designer for.. let's just say we made boats and I worked as designer pretty closely with the material scientists. I picked up a couple of things trough out the years but this was a long time ago so feel free to call me out if Im wrong.
What im thinking is that this is either due to cyclical failure or due to galvanic corrosion depending on how it was constructed.

If it was bolted then i suspect corrosion,
CFRP and metals dosen't mix specially not in water because of galvanic corrosion as most of the engineering metals are electrochemically more active. In seawater carbon or (graphite) has an open circuit potential that's much more positive then titanium and other engineering metals. This can lead to electrochemical reactions that not only weaken the microstrtucture of the metal but the CFRP aswell however of the metals titanium alloys are the ones that are the ones with the least amount of potential difference making it ideal however from what I remember that was in something they called simulated passive environments so who knows if it's applicable to this and with multiple dives and you know that this cheepskate in noway tested the submarine between runs anything could have been wrong.

On the other hand if it was glued:
The other two main reasons CF isn't used is cause of its low shear and compressive strength. Steel bends and twists while CF is brittle and shatters. One of the most prevalent failures being delmination. This could be due to multiple reasons both in manufacturing or external forces. Composites vessels will swell and compress far more then a homogeneous steel/titanium vessel under the same load which will lead to constant stress between it and the titanium rings this would cause a sheer force along the matrix each time the vessel dove which would cause it to fail or the glue inbetween.

I know they say the deaths were instant, but there has got to be some really weird deep ominous stress noises in the steucture before total implosion. Hearing that creaking and groaning was probably horrifying for the kid. I hope they descended so quick there wasnt any weird forboding horror game noises going on to be anxious about

TThey had long enough to get rid of the ballasts. They knew what was happening.

Unrelated. Lookup Forum subsea for how to safely build an actual small submarine.

Every time I see you post something like this, I'm reminded of how many people genuinely fell for Null's free speech talk and think this forum is meant to be for fighting against Western governments, non-whites and gays.
What an odd-possum reply.
I don't even believe in that free speech shizzle, my nizzle. Now am I anti-Western, quite the contrary.
I think forums in general should be for fun and discussion. And often having fun online means mocking the people that want to infect your homelands with faggotry and genetic horrors.

This is what happens with rich people. Once they manage to build up that kind of wealth they do all the stuff they couldn't afford to do. They fuck all the expensive whores they can. They have driven all the expensive super fast cars. Been on all the expensive yachts they can handle. Eaten all the expensive and fancy foods at the fancy restaurants. They become bored. Now they either go two ways after this. Down a path of degeneracy where they have sex with under age girls molest kids get involved in snuff film stuff or shit with animals. Basically any kind of depraved act you can think of. The other path involves them doing super risky stuff that could possibly kill them. They can only get their jollies at that point by risking their life.

This is what a lot of rich fucks end up doing.
I feel sorry for the families of the deceased that will have years of court battles to deal with because of this shit.

I've watched a bunch of his interviews and he seems really annoyed with the whole "search" of a huge area that took place for a couple of days, as it was giving the passengers' families some false hope. He says he sent out his RIP emails to the members of the community on Monday and was just waiting for the wreck to be found where it was eventually found, which was pretty much the sub's last known position.

of course faggots are making this a left vs right situation

can't we just meme at the absurdity of the engineering/madcatz controller/diversity-hire shit without a bunch of pretentious fucks twisting it into a political pissing contest jfc
Who's dumber though the people who post this shit or the people who believe it?

Can we stop saying "kid"? The legal age of adulthood in Pakistan is 18, he was 19. Yes, 19 year olds are still immature idiots who do things they don't want to do in order to please their parents, but Suleman was a man physically and legally, and he was the only one with enough common sense to be afraid.
