One of the main tenets of "Health At Every Size" is that being healthy isn't a moral obligation.

I would argue that the HAES movement is more or less as bad as a movement telling alcoholics that it's their right to choose the alcoholic lifestyle and liver cancer is a total false flag by the anti shitfaced lobbyists.

Long story short you have a responsibility to make every reasonable effort not to place an undue burden on society which means if you choose a life of snorting cheeze whizz and doing shots of cooking oil you probably need to examine your life choices before stating that society has a responsibility to do away with the sort of urban furniture (like six inch steps) that are insurmointable obstacles for the terminally obese.

powerleveling/ Lmao that's what nurses said to my mother too when she went to surgery because of gallstones and how easy the operation will be because of that. Tho imagine being a doctor and sinking a knife to at worst 20cm layer of fat and try to remove this part of body under of that mess and then get these people with like normal amount of fat top of their guts.

Also..

> if u are skinny and talk about fat issues you are the problem
I love how they without shame line out the people who body positive movement is meant for: people who's skin has burnt or who are misshapen from accident or some other medical condition. Fuck you, it is about people too lazy to exercise.

I agree you shouldn't hate yourself for being fat, but it isn't some fucking form of oppression so serious even skinny people should shut up about it. It is just you are too fucking lazy, self-entitled, and deep in oppression complex you come up with shit like this.
"As a thin person, your privilege allows your voice to be heard much, much louder than the multitude of fat people that came before you."

Wouldn't a multitude of fat people be more visible and attention grabbing than a smaller person?

I'm sure if they went to street to voice their concerns, there's very little number of those people who would miss it and lot of them who hope they did. All of the girls in bikinis I forget quite fast but their presence burns into your brain for the rest of your life.
Uhhhhggggggghhh! The one on the far left's looks like camel toe. (starts sobbing a bit)

These lardasses are pretty noisy when a herd of them start stomping around and bellowing angrily.

Where are they getting the idea that all thin people just eat whatever they want and don't work out? Is it because in high school they saw the girls with decent figures eating McDonalds and just assumed they don't work out ever and eat junk all the time? Even if they did, that figure won't last once they get a little older and their metabolism drops. Sure there's lots of "skinny fat" people out there, but the majority don't eat garbage 24/7 and move their bodies a little. Do they really think everyone who isn't plus sized is just starving all the time?

I would say that they probably do think that, your body tends to adjust itself over time based on your behaviour. When you are heavily overweight it screws with your leptin & ghrelin [hormones that control hunger] and you become resistant to them. The short of it being that they find it difficult to control what they eat. So ultimately they're just applying their circumstance to everybody else, and assuming they deal with the same thing.

I knew plenty of people in high school who ate junk food for lunch and kept a good figure. Some of them were on the school's sports teams while others weren't--they just had a high metabolism. Until a few years ago I was able to eat whatever I wanted without worrying about gaining weight. Now that my metabolism has balanced out, it's incredibly easy to gain weight.

Which is why, yknow, it's expected for me to work out to keep at a healthy weight.

There is a moral obligation to remain as healthy as you can, and healthy cannot happen when people are obese, morbidly obese or super-morbidly obese. To willfully waste your health means others are then obligated to care for you and as it stands now many nurses are leveled by terrible back injuries caring for people who weigh two to three times what they should. My cousin, who is fit as fuck, had to leave nursing in a hospital after her last back injury trying to get a 400 pound woman off the toilet. Why should a nurse have to have invasive, painful back surgery in order to satisfy a HAES/FA assertion that their personal agency means they don't have to be healthy. Why does another person have to endure misery to accommodate their personal beliefs?

But even more on the nose is that if you don't have serious injuries or aren't severely disabled, you have the moral obligation to make sure that in an emergency you can save yourself. Hell, at least be healthy enough that your lack of stamina doesn't result in someone else getting injured or killed in an emergency. Imagine the average high rise. Imagine it on fire. Then imagine all the morbidly obese HAES girls who get winded just talking trying to make their way down the emergency stairs. One collapses and the entire stair exit is blocked. If a 350 pounder drops on the stairs, how many people will have to pick her up? How will they get her out of the way? Will several fit people be burdened with somehow saving her life, risking themselves as they more or less carry and pull her out of the building? How many people will die if they can't get around her?

If a lifestyle means that you take up space that is not yours, consume more than you need to live comfortably, use up medical resources far more than people who remain fit, that's bad enough. But the HAES/FA lifestyle demands that others not just accommodate the obese but also to potentially be at risk when a fat person cares so little for him or herself, let alone others, that they can't take care of themselves during an emergency. A HAES/FA lifestyle is one that means the believer is okay potentially killing other people in a crisis because their human agency means they rely on the goodwill of the fit to save them during a crisis. HAES is a genuinely parasitic movement.

I don't know where all these hambeasts get the idea that fit/skinny people only focus on staying thin. Like it's impossible to be healthy and maintain a normal, social life.

:powerlevel:?At one point in time, I had to walk about 20 minutes total to work - 10 min to train, sit my lazy ass down, 10 min to work. After about a month and a half of doing that nearly every day, I lost 15 pounds despite not really doing anything.

Doing shit like this isn't hard. It just relies on them moving sometime and not eating five people's worth of food a day.

You do know that by losing weight you're implicitly fat-shaming abundant and succulent people don't you?

oh man i wish i had a screencap of that post claiming it was logical, healthy and normal for some people to be obese because since whales utilize their high bodyfat for buoyancy and this it contributes to their agility despite their immense size, clearly this means obese people are natural swimmers. There was something else in there about how said obesity strengthens and increases lung capacity as well, with some other far-out nonsense likening obese people to whales. Sounded like an amusing troll, until I looked at the blog it came from....a HAES follower who said the only reason their weren't fat people bringing home the gold in Olympic swimming was due to discrimination/"thin privilege"/people "not wanting to see fathletes". YEAH....

idk if its already been mentioned, but TiTP has also claimed in various posts that "there's no proven link between type2 diabetes and obesity" "diabetes is just an invention to discriminate against fat people" "doctors use diabetes as a scare tactic to further the patriarchy's control on the unrealistic standards of female beauty"

mmmkay -_-

Tell that to all the land whales with no feet from the beetus.
