That aside, I work with somebody who really loves herself for being fat. I used to be seriously skinny, like painfully skinny (all natural). She always used to tell me I would get fat one day and I shrugged, then one day after not seeing her for a month she noticed I had a slight bulge to my belly. She pranced around victorious but I shrugged and said "Meh holiday weight, it'll go." She then launched into a tirade about how gorging on crappy food in package hotels was the quickest way to put on weight and then bragged about how her boyfriend took her to Spain to a villa he rented for a week. So I showed her my holiday photos. Me sitting on the balcony of the house we rented for a fortnight in Capdenac sur la Lot, me eating steak tartare and drinking wine in a little street cafe in Figeac (go there it's stunning). The market in Rocamadour which is basically Minas Tirith in real life. As it dawned on her that the holiday I went on cost more money than her boyfriend earns in six months and I gorged myself silly on food she will never have to opportunity to try she took a massive breath and launched into a full-scale tirade about rich people privilege. I learned on that day that I will always be an oppressor because I exist, am thin, white and have enough money for nice things.

What a moaning, decadent fat fuck. I'm thin but I've never been ale to "submerge my whole body" in a bath because they're always too short, length wise. Ma'am, are you sure the only joy in your holiday-home-having life is hour long baths? What about eating everything in sight to the point where you need to buy a custom bath to submerge your fat ass?

After reading ALL of this, I think I encountered a HAES member in real life. It was in April though, when I was getting worse with my disease. (At that time, we were doing tests to check if humira would actually be able to be given to me. t was ridiculous.)

A heavy set brood that was fairly old decided it was her duty to comment on where my mom was parked; ignoring the medical conditions that I had to be able to park there. It was in front of the hospital. Apparently, she needed that spot because "she was old, therefore more rickety than I". However, my mom quickly shut her down. I was there for blood tests so I could stop bleeding.

Apparently, I wasn't sicker than her sorry butt despite not being able to walk far at the time without possibility of fainting. I guess because of my age I can't be sick.

Please tell that to my immune system. I'd appreciate that

I'm like a teeny tiny person as tall as my father's Asian girlfriend and I still can't submerge by body in a standard tub, I think that's why they make jacuzzis which are more for relaxing than just focusing on getting clean.

Well a lot of the HaES folks seem to violate the laws of physics on a regular basis, and no I don't mean that they should collapse into themselves like a black hole but rather they break the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

They eat almost no calories and expend a huge amount of energy while they exercise and yet somehow they still gain mass. Ie: I eat only water and exercise 6 hours a day but still I gained 5 lbs yerstaday, it must be because of my * insert rare genetic condition* so I might as well just love who I am.

I feel as if I understand the HAES movement better now. It's about changing public perception which sees them as "bad".

The problem: Morbidly obese people are viewed as "bad" because they cannot reach the goal of being what society deems as "healthy". People do not want to be like/with them and this makes then feel like pariahs.

A handful of solutions to be seen as "good" in the current system:
> Drastic lifestyle changes. It's not easy but this is needed for long-term weight loss success.
> Hone a talent and become noticed for something other than your body. Most people's first thought about your favorite director/artist/author isn't "god they're so fat and bad on a basic level" (unless you found them on the Farms)
> Own your body size as a lifestyle, find personal comfort in your own skin, and accept the consequences. Chances are you already know a few people like this.
> Find real people who don't think you are bad. There are people out there from every walk of life who don't hate fat people. If you want to be big and loved, hang out where people are cool with that.

The HAES solution: Ask society to move the goalpost behind them.
